A Very Venture Halloween Reviewed
Venture Bros Junkies....your fix is nigh!! We brave few, starved for animation by our pseudo-adoptive, ultra creative cousins Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick huddle up to the glowing warmth of a flat screen teevee for just a morsel of holiday themed adventure with Doctor Thaddeus S. "Rusty" Venture and friends....and laugh and swoon and then feel empty inside once more ..returning to our lonely love seat to mark the number of days we must wait until a NEW Season of Venture Brothers will fill our lives with purpose. To you, the Venture Bros fan, I give the one fist salute.

Silent Hill Revelation 3D Interviews & Review
Tis the season for spooky..which means I am working overtime for Dread Central these days! I didn't want you to think I was avoiding you..it's just that daddy has another family in LA and they demand his attention from time to time. I wonder if there's a little Golden Book for that?
I stayed up into the wee hours to crank out my Silent Hill Revelation 3D interviews and a review that sums up my major disappointment in a flurry of curse words, Bay Watch comparisons and a nod to Hellboy 2. Having loved the first movie so much, writing this review felt a bit like slaying a horde of demons that had taken residence in my brain. I just can't understand how people that claim to love the first film could make something so completely bad. It boggles the mind.
At any rate, I know a lot of you are Silent Hill fans too, so be sure to READ THE INTERVIEWS (or Part 1 of the interview series where I talk to Director Michael J. Bassett), then DIVE INTO THE REVIEW..in that order, for maximum enjoyment. It also lays out the order of my experience, so you could see how my excitement was pumped up by the director and cast....annnnd then smashed upon the rocks below later that evening. Enjoy!
UPDATE: Read all my Silent Hill Revelation interviews, up now on Dread Central!
Part 2 with Adelaide Clemens
Part 3 with Kit Harington
Quick Note: I'll be leading a Q&A with Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid at a screening of I Sell the Dead tonight in Rahway, NJ, so come join us!

The Walking Dead Official Magazine Issue 1 Reviewed
Zombie Mania has gripped the public at large and shows no
signs of slowing down any time soon! Did you ever think you’d see a day where
the “normal folks” are talking about a TV show where people get eaten now and
again?! I…did not. With a new season of The Walking Dead on AMC and October
filling the air with thoughts of lovely Halloween spookiness, Titan thought it
would be the best time possible to launch The Walking Dead Magazine! I was
lucky enough to be sent a copy to pour over and report back to alert the real
fans if we had some zombie opportunists trying to infiltrate our wallets. I’m
happy to report TWDM wears its love right out there on its sleeve. This is a
magazine created to fill in the blanks for new fans, give further detail to
those who have been following for years and pack in as much minutia in as wide
a range as possible for the die-hards.

The Iron Man 3 Trailer is LIVE
In Marvel's "Iron Man 3", brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr., is pitted against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Iron Man 3 continues the epic adventures of "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2", starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, "Iron Man 3" is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel's iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of "Tales of Suspense" (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with "The Invincible Iron Man" (#1) in May of 1968.
Iron Man 3 is slated for release on May 3, 2013.

A Toy Sculptor's Journey
When I was just a kid, action figures went from being dolls with cloth outfits to little 3 and 3 quarter inch, not very posable space wariors to the game changing Masters of the Universe line before I took what we'll call my "hiatus" from collecting. Flash forward to McFarlane's Spawn line (another HUGE game changer) and we blast into a whole new universe with celebrity sculptors, rock star art groups and companies making action figures of things we'd never see today. As we hit our current time period, you can easily divide the room of toy makers between companies looking to save a buck at every turn and those who love what modern technology allows, seeking to create the best looking plastics we've ever seen. Though the tools may change, it is the artist who creates those toys we come to love. Maker Magazine shares your love of the arts with a new series "about the people who bring fantasy to life. We will spotlight miniature-making, sculpting, molding, figure-modding, latex mask-making, and much more with tutorials, interviews, reviews, and good stories. www.makezine.com/go/believe

..And This Is Why We Write For Women
..As well as the stereotypical "Fanboy". Here are some interesting numbers from New York Comic Con 2012, pertaining to who did the most chatting in social settings about the mega show...
Stats courtesy of Radian6.com. SO..I officially laugh at any toy company still avoiding making those female characters into action figures, Mattel for not displaying new Monster High dolls on the show floor at New York Comic Con, Hasbro for only featuring an "artistic" display for My Little Pony at their NYCC press event..and not letting anyone know about the actual My Little Pony event happening on another night ..and, just in general, any short sighted fool not selling their geek items directly to women, who quite honestly, are willing to pay MORE for quality nerdwares than men are. Stick that in your pie chart.

The Iron Man 3 Teaser Trailer
We are a day away from the world premiere of the Iron Man 3 trailer, but folks on FaceBook got a sneak peek for recharging Tony Stark's armor with the power of LIKES!! See..there is hope for alternative fuel sources. This tiny morsel doesn't show much, but it's enough to bring a smile to the faces of many a Marvel freak on a craptastic Monday morning.

Hanna-Barbera Sin City
The streets are angry and unforgiving. In nearly every shadowed alley and darkened door, it seems someone is crying out for help. Behind the walls of its seedy strip clubs and bars, a plea for mercy would fall on deaf ears. Though the city is a monster, it is not without its heroes..though these men and women aren't exactly your cape and tights folks...and they don't exactly like to leave anyone alive to tell tales. These images set the stage for Frank Miller's Sin City, but today, we ponder..what if. What if Hanna-Barbera's beloved cartoon characters slipped through a crack in the universe and found they had to fight to survive in a world without a laugh track?! ....I didn't say it was a sane What If. Pete Caballero brings us a look at Hanna-Barbera's Sin City....just because we thought it would be pretty damn funny.

Deadpool VS Comic Con
If this next bit of video teaches us one thing...it is this. If Deadpool were real...we'd probably avoid him like crazy. His obnoxigen levels are at about 3,000. Never the less, we love him in the comics...and we will love him in the video game....we just won't invite him to crash on our couch.
Deadpool stormed the comic cons this year to make sure you've all heard about his new video game...and to grab some female cosplayer booty, apparently. Though the videos below may not be very informative, they sure are entertaining.

Dark Horse's Buffyverse Sampler for 2013
If there was ever a "gateway drug" to the world of Dark Horse's Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics universe, this is it. It never ceases to amaze me the number of die hard Buffy fans out there who still haven't even heard of the comic, and apparently, despite overwhelming success, Dark Horse has taken notice and aims to get you hooked.
Following the success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Dark Horse launched four separate series for the anticipated Buffy Season 9. Buffy Season 9 and Angel & Faith are direct follow-ups to Season 8, while Spike and Willow are spinoffs from those two ongoing series.
Collected here are all four #1 issues, with all-new cover art by C. L. Bradley! Coming in at 96 pages, this issue carries the low cover price of only $4.99!
Look for this at your local comic shop on January 23, 2013!

New Mattel Superman Movie Toy Commercials
Or as we call them in the industry..."Sizzles"! Saucy, eh? These Superman toy teasers were most likely put together for the toy buying season, which has begun! There is one giant sized round of buying in October where the major toy companies meet the major buyers, then another round in February, which most of you will identify as Toy Fair in New York City. There are other shows in the UK and such, but these two massive events most likely account for 85% of the toy buying business done across the planet.

NYCC 2012: Costumes Round 1..FIGHT!
At this point, anyone who recognizes me at a show (all 3 of you..and I thank you) knows I do both San Diego and New York Comic Cons, so I am often asked if there are any outstanding differences between the two. I will name one glaring one. ETHNICITY!! Mirroring the many colored skins of the many different races across New York City, the show floor of New York Comic Con has a fantastic range of people from all walks of life donning costumes purely for the love of it. That's not to say SDCC doesn't draw folks from across the planet...just at NYCC, it stands out a bit more. Also extremely relevant; those old stereotypes about agro New York people go out the window and I can honestly say every damn one of you was incredibly awesome to me every second of the show. At any rate, we proudly present the first round of Costume/Cosplayer pictures from New York Comic Con 2012.

Civilian Justice
We've been neck deep in amazing new teasers and trailers from San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con for movies that will stroke your geek-lobes into a frenzy of wanting. Now, we thought we'd show you another trailer...no less amazing, but clearly for other reasons. For as long as I have known him, it seems Graig Weich has had the super power to will himself into any situation. He can be found in the backgrounds of movies like Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises and when he is not taunting big box office comic heroes, he is playing Doctor Frankenstein to his own creations. One such hero is Civilian Justice. When we first met this character, he was standing alongside Graig's booth in motorcycle racing leathers..his head wrapped in an American flag and brandishing another as if ready to skewer himself a kebob full of terrorists. We were told this hero was born from the ashes of 9-11 and, indeed, had a mad on for dispatching extremist bombers. To say more would only add as extra padding, so why bother when I can just show video of what could have been..or still might be...I'm not sure which is accurate. Pardon the low rez.

The Evil Dead Trailer!
The best horror trailer I've seen in a very long time has been leaked...as is the way of the interwebs! Take a look before it gets disappeared! Thanks to NuketheFridge for the scoop...
UPDATE: The Nuke the Fridge bootleg has been sacked. All responsible have fled the country. IGN has the goods though!
As you can see, the new film promises to be a meaner, crazier, more visceral animal. Bruce Campbell himself, when I inquired as to how violent the new film was going to be, asked me what I thought about a Nail Gun and a whooooole lot of nails? The trailer confirms an iconic possessed hand, plenty of demonic activity and even alludes to TREE RAPE!! What more could you ask for? Evil Dead promises to mirror those moments you love while presenting the entire experience in a whole new light. "Fucked Up" seems to have been the magic phrase while shooting! I can't wait for more.

Alfred Hitchcock Demands Phone Silence at the Movies!
We are making a difference. For once in our lifetime...we may just win at something. Yes, friends, one of the tiny tiny places in our little universe is sloooowly being altered so that generations of folks will be conditioned to turn around, upon hearing cell phone noise, beeping or that wondering blast of blue light, and say "Pardon me..but kindly turn off your fucking phone. Please and Thank You." Now Alfred Hitchcock himself joins the cause with this latest "STFU at the movies" PSA...

NYCC 2012: Back into the Fray...with Geeks
It's the last day of New York Comic Con and as per usual, I am a little worse for wear, but there was hot water in the shower, a happy round Brit on my couch and Vodka still in my system, so all is right with the world. Those of you who are new to the site may have thought I took the weekend off, but if you've been watching the feed up top, I'd done my best to periodically dump some pics into Flickr to curb your fiendish dorkly appetites. Failing that, as was the case yesterday as I was locked in the interview rooms all day where you can't hope to get an upload signal, I switched over to Twitter whenever I could get a tenth of a bar on the cell. You can see that handy work here - https://twitter.com/nomadixxx - and pay particular attention to the pics..which where pretty much what was all around me all day. YOU GET TO BE MY EYES!! How creepy.

New York Comic Con 2012 Kick Off
Just a quick post to tell you that, as well as the pics at the top of the site and the extra bits I threw onto Twitter last night, we managed to forgo a little sleep and post 3 folders to Flickr! Up now we've got the Show Floor Day 0 (as technically, the show hasn't even started yet), DC Direct and Hasbro Angry Birds Star Wars for our Jedi inclined viewers. The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 Reviewed
Some comics change everything. You are going to hear this
over and over if you know anyone who loves Batman enough and perhaps is old
enough to remember when The Dark Knight Returns set the geek universe ablaze.
For me, there was always some love of Batman. I’d read of his super deeds with
Robin in the pages of Justice League America when I was just a little boy, and
even though the somewhat dumpy Adam West Batman was a hokey facsimile, I
watched every episode of the TV series and yearned for more. By elementary
school, my love had shifted to the Uncanny X-Men, and by high school I may have
stopped collecting all together. What I do remember so keenly in those days of
mullets and ripped jeans was the coming of the Dark Knight. The word was out.
Batman was COOL now!

The OFFICIAL Star Wars Angry Birds Reveal!
I feel like it should have a tag line like "This Time...It's Personal", but the line "Defeat The Pork Side!" on some of this packaging more than makes up for the two hours of editing I just did. This past weekend, we blew young minds with the announcement of Star Wars Angry Birds and teased your wallets with merchandise to come. Today, Hasbro gets in on the action with official pics of their lineup that confirm two things...
1. There WILL BE a Star Wars Angry Birds App
2. They will be merchandising the hell out of it
and as an aside...
3. They sure do love Jabba and the Rancor Monster, as they have featured them in two of the game sets....but no Leia in any, unless you count Leia Bousch. Everybody knows girls don't play Angry Birds. Pish Posh. Sarcasm, ended.
FIRST UP!! Let's meet the cast of characters revealed so far!

McFarlane's Walking Dead TV Series 3 Action Figures
It's almost Walking Dead time again on AMC, so McFarlane Toys is revving up their creep engines to bring you all the nasty undead plastics you crave..and happily, alongside an extremely well rounded cast of human characters from the show! It's been months since we showed off Series 2 RIGHT HERE. Those are due to drop the end of October. Now we get a peek as the Walking Dead TV Action Figures Series 3...which seem to have bypassed another comic series all together. McFarlane know where the money is. Would the money have been there in spades at 7 inches??!! Yes ...yes...but we can cry over that later. Right now, we have new toys to look at.

Star Wars Angry Birds Revealed
Well that was quick! From teaser to product in what...8 hours? The reveal was set to be Monday in Times Square, but if you are Star Wars obsessed, you need it NOWWWW...so we sent our robots to storm Rovio Castle and pillage Hasbro Keep and come back with some preview images for you..because we love you. Hugs all around.
In my first article on the subject...I was a bit harsh. Now, I must admit, the designs are growing on me. Feast your trembling eyeballs on the following...
Star Wars Angry Birds Jenga Death Star - Said to feature an exclusive Chewbacca figure. (the pic to the left is not it.) I'm pretty much dying to see this thing in person. The art of the Piggy Dead Star is enough to make me want. Ohh...the wanting. Commence gimme hands.

Angry Birds Assimilate Star Wars
It's the mash up....practically no one asked for...or dreamed about!!!
But there will be toys...and jenga...and most likely a Star Wars edition of the game amid all the plush and T Shirts. .....maybe a game...but after the T Shirts.
The Angry Birds Tumblr says to be at the Times Square Toys R Us at 8am...or 10am..they aren't really clear on the point. I'm betting we'll be seeing some merch when we do drinks with Hasbro right before New York Comic Con 2012 next week. STAY TUNED...if not for this earth shattering announcement...then for stuff you really care about.

Marvel Back to Animated Features
It's been a very long time since Thor: Tales of Asgard. Did you catch that film? Neither did I. That was 2011. Now, fresh from the success of The Avengers with legions of fans wondering what a company like Disney might do with a blockbuster stable of characters and access to animation technology that is, no doubt, the best on the planet..Marvel answers the call for new direct to DVD animated features....or ANYTHING awesomely animated!
The project is called "Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United". ~snore~ The title just smacks of the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cancellation in favor of something more kid friendly...even though they also cancelled Super Hero Squad..which was specifically for kids. ~grumble~ EW.com reports the pair of heroes will take on Zzzax, a creature of pure energy you may remember from pas Hulk comics.

The Crow Returns
IDW Publishing is thrilled to announce that The Crow’s original creator, James O’Barr will be launching a brand-new story featuring the vengeful avian guide, THE CROW: SKINNING THE WOLVES, a three-issue miniseries set to debut this December. Fans of O’Barr’s dark signature style will be delighted to see him backed by co-artist Jim Terry with a story woven of the same supernatural mystique that made The Crow a favorite of fans worldwide.
“I’ve been wanting to see a new Crow project from James O’Barr for a lot longer than we’ve had the Crow license,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief, “and what James has lined up for Skinning the Wolves and beyond is definitely delivering on those expectations.”
Set in a European concentration camp in 1945, Skinning the Wolves investigates a world where the dark harbinger of vengeance is dispatched in response to one of history’s greatest atrocities and the ultimate evil that perpetrated it.
