Barbie: The Gamer Grill
Barbie has had more jobs than any 100 people may have had in their lifetime. She's been to space, blinded us with science, donned a cape for super-heroics, gone full stealth as a spy and..umm..worked at McDonalds. In recent years, Mattel has been pushing to shatter the misconceptions of Barbie and her opulent lifestyle with marketing geared toward empowering little women to be anything they can dream. Today, we learned about a straight to DVD Barbie movie in which avid gamer Barbie is magically transported into her video game universe. The first part of that statement is something I heartily give massive thumbs up for, as women in gaming are still getting beat up out there, and this should not be the state of things. The second part could provide potential, unintentional hilarity...

Anne Rice Recovers Rights to the Vampire Chronicles
It's been years since the vampire Lestat sought to teach Louis about the night and all its beauty. For some, the film was amazing. For others, it was miscast and void of all the magic that propelled the reader through every book. As we moved into the second installment, it was clear the new film's creators didn't "get" the author's material and the result was an odd mess best left to midnight screenings and a cult movie status. Hollywood has always had an uneasy relationship with authors and even producers that expound on their love for the source material sometimes turn out an adaption that makes us question if they really read the book at all. When the party is over, we are left to wonder what the author can do to reclaim their written necromancy. Today, we live in the age of second chances, and Anne Rice is ready to bring her pale children before us once more...

Conan O'Brien Experiences Final Fantasy 15 Fatigue
Every gamer, experienced or newb has come face to face with a game that just didn't live up to expectations. Descriptions like "running simulator" are common place among the vernacular and repetition can take a game from mega hype to deep snooze in under a month (I'm looking at YOU No Man's Sky!!) Today we get to watch the always ridiculous Conan O'Brien take on an early copy of Final Fantasy 15. With words being kicked around like "breathtaking" and "phenomenal", we are positive Conan went in with high expectations and little else. What we got was comedy gold.

IDW Announces Highlander Comic Prequel
Highlander, the epic action/adventure fantasy film starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, will expand its legacy next year as a comic-book miniseries from IDW Publishing.
Scottish fantasy writer Brian Ruckley will spin a new tale chronicling the events that led up to the opening of the classic 1986 feature film while casting new light on the battle between immortals throughout time.
“In the 30 years since its release, Highlander has inspired a massive cult following that craves new stories based on the original film,” senior editor Denton J. Tipton said. “Many have tried, to varying degrees of success, but Brian has crafted an exciting narrative that will honor and bolster the underpinnings of Highlander. Also, epic sword fights!”

Marvel's INHUMANS on ABC Shuffles the Cinematic Universe Once Again?
For folks like me, having The Inhumans removed from the Marvel Studios uber planagram with little fanfare and no talk of a "later date" was a sign of those rumored FOX talks to bring a portion of the X-Men universe over to the mother ship. Now that Marvel TV is announcing The Inhumans are coming to ABC in 2017, people might think the X-Men are staying right where they are. I'm not so sure that's the message here...
Back in May we laid out all the bits and pieces we'd been hearing on Mutantkind replacing the Inhumans as the dominant powered race of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lending credence to this was the growing disdain for the state of things from TV cast members who legitimately thought they would enjoy, at the very least, cameos in major Marvel Studios films, since it was meant to be "all connected". Over the past 2 years we've had little more than events transpiring in films bleeding into the TV series, and more often than that, just mentions of those happenings. The doorway has only swung in one direction, and we believe it is going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Bitches Get Stitches: On Sexy Cosplaying
Oh boy. This is quite the hot topic recently. "Sexy Cosplayers". Love us or hate us, we're here.
Let me back this up. If you don't know who I am, I'm a model, a burlesque performer, and a cosplayer. When I was growing up, I was a lanky, skinny, shapeless, bracefaced, and unibrowed kid. When other girls were getting pretty and shapely, learning how to do their hair and makeup.. I was playing video games and writing fanfiction about marrying Lance Bass (No, I'm not kidding. They were awful and cringey as all getout).

YOUNG JUSTICE IS BACK!!
The Team is back and it’s “business as usual.” Warner Bros. Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Season three promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes. Further details about the new season — including premiere date and network partner — will be announced at a later time.
Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “9 Best Animated TV Series Drawn from Comics,” “Young Justice” has been equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling. The series reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network.

A New Wonder Woman Trailers Charges Into Battle
Warner Brothers drops a brand new trailer for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, based on the iconic DC Comics character and set in the DC Cinematic Universe forged by Zach Snyder and company with the films Superman: Man of Steel, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and their latest release Suicide Squad! The newest trailer for Wonder Woman doesn't move very far from our last glimpse into this world. The vistas are still breathtaking, the banter is snappy when called for and the action sequence slow motion is extra slow-motiony!
