Udon Street Fighter Swimsuit Special #1

Udon's Capcom Street Fighter Swimsuit Special Edition Comic Book
I fondly remember the days when Marvel Comics didn't take itself quite so seriously and had Swimsuit Special editions featuring teeny tiny outfits cosplayers re-create even today (bless them.) Gamora completely rocked her Death's Head bikini. She Hulk was awe inspiring. (no, I don't have a thing for green girls, but thanks for asking.) Even the dudes got in on it. These days, with Cinematic Universes to cultivate, the mighty Marvel Comic universe most likely takes its lead from folks preserving the marketing potential...and so..no scantily clad super folks. Capcom....has no such mandate. Begin your hnnnng mantra...

Adult Swim Emojis are HERE

Prepare to take 50% longer to end any sentence as you choose the perfect tiny faces to convey your mood, since you want to be understood but meeting face to face is a major fucking hassle. Will it be tiny drunken Rick from Rick and Morty to express your desire to be blind, stinking drunk rather than sit through another useless meeting? Maybe it's 2 Ton 21 from Venture Bros to hammer home your excitement over a moment in Game of Thrones where 100 people are burned alive. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!! Well...not endless...but still fun.

Capstone's Bedtime for Batman Children's Book

Children's books. Are they for children....or US??!! The lines are getting a bit blurry and i'm seeing an opportunity to jump in there! While Capstone is insisting their Bedtime for Batman book is for the wee ones, i'm positive more than a couple of you will be snapping it up for your own collections.

Since the introduction of the character in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, generations of readers have  followed Batman and his adventures.  Now Bedtime for Batman is here to introduce a new generation of fans to the Caped Crusader!  Written by award-winning author Michael Dahl (Goodnight Baseball, Goodnight Football, and Goodnight Hockey) and illustrated by Ethen Beavers (DC Super Friends), this bedtime tale will have parents and kids riveted every evening.

Funko Labyrinth Pop Figures Have Come!

We don't cover Funko a whole lot these days after they yelled at us for posting news about them and didn't take it down as quickly as they wanted because we wanted to replace it with NEWS and not leave an empty hole behind....BUT... that doesn't mean we hate their guts. OH NO. We like their guts just fine...especially when they announce Labyrinth Pop! figures! Oh man. Lucky thing these pieces are usually cheap. I may need them all...and that's a first for me.

New Ghostbusters 2016 Theme Song Drops ...Thousands Injured ...6 Believed Dead

If there is one thing the previews, clips and trailers for the Ghostbusters 2016 remake have done well, it's to assure us this movie is NOT for fans of the classic film. If you guys like it too, that's great, but this is a Paul Feig movie through and through, complete with jokes about lady cracks, slapstick violence and people yelling whenever possible. It stands to reason the new theme song would be produced in the spirit of this beat-for-beat re-imagining, containing all the originality and excitement of Crystal Pepsi. The true crime of it all is the song "features" Missy Elliot, who, in my opinion and without glossing over the vernacular, would have torn that shit up. They did not put it in her able hands. Instead... we get Fall Out Boy. ...yea. It's like announcing Shakira is redoing the Flash Gordon theme song. It's like announcing the Singles soundtrack will be re-imagined by country music's biggest stars. It's like announcing Mad Max is such a sexy film, only the Pussycat Dolls can score the soundtrack. It's like proclaiming The Hobbit was a flop because it failed to connect with Millennials, so the Silmarillion will include a score by Cobra Starship of Snakes on a Plane fame. I've got loads more jokes but fuck it..here's the song...

E3 2016: Sony Delivers A Mighty Backhand with Zombies, Giant Monsters, Rampaging Robots & More

By Justin DePaul

Just as E3 remains ever the premiere convention for showing off the latest and most innovative video games the world will eagerly await, it is also the prime location for the titans of hardware to step up and prove to the gaming community why we should sink our heard earned dollars into their platform. This year, Sony took the stage and practically dared anyone to challenge them.

Sony's conference at E3 2016 was a well paced and console/exclusive-heavy showing. Starting the show off with a full orchestral overture lead by Bear McCready, they lead right into the first demo which surprised us with an older, bearded and much less screamy Kratos teaching his son to hunt and de-horn the occasional flaming rock carrying creature that crosses their path. This new installment of the God of War series will take on the original PS2 game's name, simply being called God of War, but appears to offer an open world setting that flows more fluidly then its predecessors and will allow the player to explore and discover different regions of the map as you progress. A release is set for December of 2017.

Eye Candy: Mondo's Iron Giant Deluxe Action Figure

In the world of high end collectibles with your Hot Toys 12 inch figures and their freaky, posable eyeballs and your quarter scale Sideshow statues that look like they might come after you nightly between the hours of 2am and 4am... It's only with extreme love for the source material that we got a 16 inch tall Iron Giant action figure with 30 points of articulation (his freakin fingers are jointed!!), a light up head, alternate "war mode" head and gun arm and a button to push which makes the little guy bellow quotes from the movie. "Hooogarth...youuu stay...I goooo" ..oh man...crushed. Here's the promo...

Dynamite Entertainment's The Art of Atari Deluxe Edition

Art books seem to be on the rise again as publishers cash in on a geeky public's frenzied nostalgia with weighty tomes and equally weighty price tags. Subjects have run the gamete, hitting all corners of our pop culture universe...which makes it doubly odd we've not had a show stopping tribute to Atari before! Dynamite Entertainment (most known for comics conveying the adventures of Red Sonja and Ash of the Evil Dead) seeks to rectify that great injustice with the Art of Atari.

ART OF ATARI represents the most comprehensive retrospective to date, a whopping 350+ pages that provides insightful history and high-resolution scanned artwork culled from hundreds of production/concept illustrations, photographs, video game packaging, and groundbreaking advertisements from the height of Atari's innovation and popularity.

Pete's Dragon: Elliot the Dragon Revealed

Make sure your heart strings are firmly attached....they are about to get tugged like nobody's business...

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, 2016.

Dark Horse's Game of Thrones: Arya Stark

Back into our photography series for Dark Horse's Game of Thrones figures! Today we visit with a girl who sometimes has a name and sometimes...does not. She's gone through an incredible transformation as the series marched on, always seemingly just out of reach of the comforts and safety of her old life. From the little girl swinging her sword Needle about the grounds of Winterfell to the defiant young woman who stood her ground with The Hound and earned his respect. Arya Stark has survived largely by the strength of her reserve, and sometimes, her hate, which lead her to the steps of the Many Faced God. There, she would endure humiliation, beatings and blindness to acquire the deadly skills needed to bring about the deaths of the enemies of House Stark... delivered by small, unassuming hands. It is unknown what, exactly, drives Arya these days, but it is suspected that her plans are far reaching and fairly genius. One thing is for sure, when it comes to Arya, not everything is what it seems.

Rick & Morty: The Complete Second Season Reviewed... and CONTEST!!

Good Lord. Adult Swim has always swung wildly between "this show is insane, I can't stop laughing" to "this show is insane...my eyes are bleeding..wait..no, everything is bleeding." Rick and Morty is one of those shows where, after you are done laughing uncontrollably..like a hysterical person.. you sit there and ponder what level genius you need to be to come up with the situations, dialogue and visuals they create. If you're like me, this process involves shaking your fist at the sky in envy. Where the first season was noteworthy and certainly talked about far and wide, the second season was transcendent of its often overlooked medium. An episode goes from odd to wildly amusing to heart rippingly dramatic in seconds...AND THAT WAS THE FIRST EPISODE!! Point of fact, the first episode of season two entitled "A Rickle in Time" is so brilliant, it nearly challenges the viewer to watch it over and over just to take it all in. Could I gush any further? I think not.

New York Asian Film Festival 2016 Lineup!

Looking for KUNG FU MADNESS!!??!! I'm not talking your average Kung Fu madness...i'm talking the kind where a guy gets cut and bleeds for 3 hours as the credits roll at the end. THIS IS THE SORT OF THING I HAVE WITNESSED AT THE NEW YORK ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL!! Granted, the lineup is not always so blood soaked, with plenty of offerings to be seen involving drama, comedy, lust and female assassins with machine guns for arms...and sometimes butts. The thing to focus on here is that there is NO better place to watch amazing current Asian releases as well as a classic or two that may make your head explode. No promises....but I do see Stephen Chow's name down there...

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Subway Cinema announced today the complete lineup for the 15th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), which will take place from June 22 to July 5 at the Film Society and July 6 to 9 at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street). North America’s leading festival of popular Asian cinema will showcase 51 feature films, including one World Premiere, one International Premiere, 16 North American premieres, 2 U.S. Premieres, and 14 films making their New York City debuts. Featuring in-person appearances by more than 30 international filmmakers and celebrity guests from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
