Introducing... SNOTGIRL!
We don't write about a lot of comics here at Idle Hands...but not for lack of wanting. There are just so many hours in the day and we lack that special individual that is hardcore into comics and on top of all the latest announcements. That is the ONLY reason you will find for me missing a title called Snotgirl. Seriously. Wouldn't you think i'd be all over that??!! You'd be right. We'll fix this..right..meow.
Image Comics is pleased to announce the highly-anticipated new ongoing series SNOTGIRL by New York Times bestselling writer Bryan Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim) and featuring dazzling artwork by newcomer Leslie Hung (now going on it's third print...we are slow..as discussed.) First announced at Image Expo (in May) and teased in the inaugural issue of Image+ Magazine, SNOTGIRL will launch this July (which is now the past). In SNOTGIRL #1, readers will meet Lottie Person. Lottie’s a gorgeous, fun-loving social media star with a seemingly perfect life—but deep-down is she really just a gross, allergy-ridden mess? Enter a world of snot, blood, and tears in this new ongoing series.

Shin Godzilla Reviewed AKA Godzilla vs Mega Japanese Politics
Shin Godzilla is a 2 paragraph plot brilliantly executed with a lot of first rate West Wing-worthy chit-chat, so there really is no fun way to review the film without spoilers...so...SPOILERS AHEAD
As a collective pile of Kaiju geeks...nationally or internationally, I'd say our thirst for massive monsters wreaking havoc upon a fairly helpless populace is a fickle one. Our American Godzilla re-imagining was a little light on the giant monster rampage and we let Hollywood know how we felt about that with middle fingers twirling about against a golden sunset like fields of wheat in a very patriotic Kid Rock music video. Pacific Rim should have been everything we ever wanted and yet, we didn't get to theaters in numbers adequate to re-ignite the giant monster wars. Instead, all we were left with was odd half-promises of a Godzillaverse and a trailer where Sam Jackson takes on a building sized King Kong WITH HIS BARE HANDS!! Really..it happened. Go check. (don't check) We continue to wait for a perfect world where once a year, someone cranks out a giant monster movie we can roll around in, but until that world becomes reality, WE HAVE SHIN GODZILLA!! The trailers were so-so...the monster design made people ask if this most evil-looking of monster kings could do anything with those tiny grabby hands...and being geeks, we mostly slagged the movie, doing our best to keep expectations low...but still..secretly...hoping. Friends, I am here to tell you.......this movie kicks a whole lot of ass...and it's not even trying that hard.

NYCC 2016: Lionsgate Teams John Wick & Power Rangers
With the show 2 weeks away, it's time we start making serious plans for New York Comic Con 2016! Have you seen that massive schedule??!! Too many awesome things happening at the same time than I'd care to note. Lionsgate writes in with word on the second coming of John Wick coupled with the theatrical rebirth of the Power Rangers with cast and crew for both blockbusters on hand this October to answer all questions and mash our eager geeky brains with sneak previews.
Lionsgate will host a power-packed panel that will feature the stars and filmmakers from the highly anticipated feature films John Wick: Chapter 2 and Saban’s Power Rangers during New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 8. Fans attending the hour-long panel will be treated to Q&A sessions with the cast and producers of Saban’s Power Rangers and John Wick: Chapter 2, as well as exclusive, never-before-seen footage from both films. Retro-a-go-go Supersizing Your Halloween
For a lot of us, fond memories of simple plastic masks with a bit of elastic send us into fits of geeking with just a glance. These masks weren't perfect, and to be honest, most likenesses attempted of non-cartoony characters became the stuff of nightmares, only lending to their appeal. I've got an Adams Family movie Uncle Fester mask that at once delights adults and makes small children cry. Now Retro-A-Go-Go look to tap into that love by taking this simple format and punching it up to a nearly 2 foot size, suitable for sending would-be home invaders running for the hills.

Dark Horse Catches Reefer Madness
Now that 3 states have legalized it for recreational use, 19 for medical use, and with legalization on the November ballot in 5, it is especially fun to relive the hysteria surrounding marijuana as a perceived gateway drug from the 1930's to the 1950's and beyond. And now you can do so in the comfort of your home with Reefer Madness from Dark Horse Books.
Like the anti-drug propaganda films of that era, these stories range from comically misinformed to soberly concerned about the influence of Mary Jane on the youth of America. With titles like Teenage Dope Slaves, Satan’s Cigarettes, and Hopped-Up Killer, the gulf in attitudes between today and the days of Reefer Madness could not be wider.

Bitches Get Stitches: Lily Mashes Buttons at A Video Game Con
Hi there, Lily Stitches here! I'm gonna chat about an awesome convention that's pretty dear to my heart called A Video Game Con.
AVGC is run by one of my oldest friends, Paul Solomine at the Parsippany PAL. I remember when this convention was just a thing he talked about at parties, and I'm so happy and honored I got to be a guest again in its second year!
Let's go back to Baby Lily's videogame days.... my first experience with video games was on an airplane when I was about 6 or 7 years old. I was seated next to another little girl who was flying on her own. She was playing a Sega Game Gear. She was probably older than me, but she was super nice to let me look over her shoulder at whatever game she was playing. I think I may have played some Mario games here or there before that, but this is the moment I turned to my mom and said, "I want a video game." So that Christmas, Santa brought me a Sega Genesis with Jurassic Park and Aladdin. This was before the combo pack with Sonic and generic sports game happened so I guess my parents (or "Santa") grabbed two random cool looking games off the shelf...THAT WERE HARD AS ALL HELL. But there was my love of games, blooming indefinitely from fighting random baddies in Aladdin and eating people as a Velociraptor in Jurassic Park to being 29 years old adventuring Rapture and Columbia in Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock: Infinite.

Constantine on Blu-ray & DVD October 4
Darkness is rising, demons are everywhere … and one man stands between humanity and its worst nightmares: John Constantine. Warner Archive Collection (WAC) and DC Entertainment bring the live-action television series, Constantine: The Complete Series, to Blu-ray™ and DVD on October 4, 2016 via WBshop.com, Amazon and popular online retailers.
Based on the wildly popular DC character, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight – or at least he did. With his soul already damned to Hell, he’s decided to abandon his campaign against evil … until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line, Constantine will use his skills to travel the country, find the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back to where they belong. After that, who knows ... maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.
