Life In a Time of MADBALLS
Here at Idle hands, we often celebrate the fantastic times we live in, with mountains of geeky media to inhale with outstretched gimme hands on a daily basis. There's no greater evidence that we live in the golden era of dorkdom than THREE companies releasing Madballs items, simultaneously. THREE!!! That's three times the retro creepy toy fun, and in some cases, times 2 again as each company has more than one product releasing from the license, allowing the newly interested ball-enthusiast to have an instant collection over night. Let's check out who's got what...

The Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer is EVERYTHING
There are areas of the Marvel Universe that have made it to the big screen and yet, never quite captured the full perfection of its comic book counterparts. The X-Men stand as the most glaring abuse with countless films that ignore the core systems that made the comic so popular in favor of explosions, FX gimmicks that never fully pull the trigger and over use of a shirtless Hugh Jackman. Spider-Man has been another pitiable character with countless award winning comics and yet, each film crew seems to understand how to capture part of that magic, but not the whole mindblowing experience. There always seemed to be something missing. Now, we've come to the first trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming. I've had very few expectations going in. Peter Parker's debut in Captain America: Civil War was extremely satisfying but we'd not fully seen his world. Now we get a nice, long look...and it's everything I've always wanted.

New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 Teaser Trailer Brings Tentacle Monsters, Mantis and Baby Groot Funnies
Where the first teaser trailer gave us warm fuzzies, James Gunn seeks to assure us that Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is not taking itself seriously...at least... 80% of the time. You ready for more A hole action?
This coming May, 2017, welcome back Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and a rambunctious, apparently over stimulated baby Groot as they fight alongside and/or do battle with Mantis, Yondu and the Ravagers, Nebula, Taserface and EGO..the frakking Living Planet. That enough action for one movie? Apparently not. Here's the gang fighting a giant tentacle monster. You're Welcome.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Trailer Will Make You Weep
These days, it's not incredibly difficult to create a video game trailer that will bring a crowd to their feet cheering and laughing and celebrating even with a year + to the title's release. Video game fans are vocal and enthusiastic and when they see something they like, they lose their damn minds. On the other hand, it is far more rare to watch a trailer play and know it will cause massive crowds of gamers to fall dead silent. Last Of Us Part 2 did just that today.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Video Game Trailer LIVES *UPDATED
*Updated with game features at 3pm est
**Updated with Official press Release at 3:39pm est
Rumors of a NEW Marvel vs Capcom game have been rumbling around for quite some time, with questions centered around who Marvel would allow front and center for this epic video game throwdown. Those with fond memories of Wolverine's "Berserker Barrage" could shelve that enthusiasm, along with dreams of the return of Sabretooth, Juggernaut and the rest of the X-Men Universe. Those with visions of Fantastic Four heroes and villains...will face a similar let down, to be sure. Of course all this is not set in stone, but as the FOX/Marvel rift still remains, it seems unlikely anyone not owned (at least in part ...lookin at you Spidey) by Marvel Studios would be left on the bench. Still...HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE WE GOT AN AWESOME VIDEO GAME WITH MARVEL COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS??!! Welp..it's time. And as expected, it is glorious...

Possible First Advertising Image from Thor: Ragnarok
HOLY DAMN...it is time. Maybe. Possibly. No idea where this came from but it landed squarely in my email box and I've been geeking out over it ever since. It's no surprise to people that have been keeping tabs that Hulk will get his due screen time in the third Thor film, after both were absent from Captain America: Civil War, but people were wondering just how much we might see the two titanic brawlers side-by-side. This new image might shed some light...or just make the lot of you skeptical that this is what we'll get in the last 10 minutes of the film. NON BELIEVERS!!

Barbie: The Gamer Grill
Barbie has had more jobs than any 100 people may have had in their lifetime. She's been to space, blinded us with science, donned a cape for super-heroics, gone full stealth as a spy and..umm..worked at McDonalds. In recent years, Mattel has been pushing to shatter the misconceptions of Barbie and her opulent lifestyle with marketing geared toward empowering little women to be anything they can dream. Today, we learned about a straight to DVD Barbie movie in which avid gamer Barbie is magically transported into her video game universe. The first part of that statement is something I heartily give massive thumbs up for, as women in gaming are still getting beat up out there, and this should not be the state of things. The second part could provide potential, unintentional hilarity...

Anne Rice Recovers Rights to the Vampire Chronicles
It's been years since the vampire Lestat sought to teach Louis about the night and all its beauty. For some, the film was amazing. For others, it was miscast and void of all the magic that propelled the reader through every book. As we moved into the second installment, it was clear the new film's creators didn't "get" the author's material and the result was an odd mess best left to midnight screenings and a cult movie status. Hollywood has always had an uneasy relationship with authors and even producers that expound on their love for the source material sometimes turn out an adaption that makes us question if they really read the book at all. When the party is over, we are left to wonder what the author can do to reclaim their written necromancy. Today, we live in the age of second chances, and Anne Rice is ready to bring her pale children before us once more...

Conan O'Brien Experiences Final Fantasy 15 Fatigue
Every gamer, experienced or newb has come face to face with a game that just didn't live up to expectations. Descriptions like "running simulator" are common place among the vernacular and repetition can take a game from mega hype to deep snooze in under a month (I'm looking at YOU No Man's Sky!!) Today we get to watch the always ridiculous Conan O'Brien take on an early copy of Final Fantasy 15. With words being kicked around like "breathtaking" and "phenomenal", we are positive Conan went in with high expectations and little else. What we got was comedy gold.

IDW Announces Highlander Comic Prequel
Highlander, the epic action/adventure fantasy film starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, will expand its legacy next year as a comic-book miniseries from IDW Publishing.
Scottish fantasy writer Brian Ruckley will spin a new tale chronicling the events that led up to the opening of the classic 1986 feature film while casting new light on the battle between immortals throughout time.
“In the 30 years since its release, Highlander has inspired a massive cult following that craves new stories based on the original film,” senior editor Denton J. Tipton said. “Many have tried, to varying degrees of success, but Brian has crafted an exciting narrative that will honor and bolster the underpinnings of Highlander. Also, epic sword fights!”

Marvel's INHUMANS on ABC Shuffles the Cinematic Universe Once Again?
For folks like me, having The Inhumans removed from the Marvel Studios uber planagram with little fanfare and no talk of a "later date" was a sign of those rumored FOX talks to bring a portion of the X-Men universe over to the mother ship. Now that Marvel TV is announcing The Inhumans are coming to ABC in 2017, people might think the X-Men are staying right where they are. I'm not so sure that's the message here...
Back in May we laid out all the bits and pieces we'd been hearing on Mutantkind replacing the Inhumans as the dominant powered race of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lending credence to this was the growing disdain for the state of things from TV cast members who legitimately thought they would enjoy, at the very least, cameos in major Marvel Studios films, since it was meant to be "all connected". Over the past 2 years we've had little more than events transpiring in films bleeding into the TV series, and more often than that, just mentions of those happenings. The doorway has only swung in one direction, and we believe it is going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Bitches Get Stitches: On Sexy Cosplaying
Oh boy. This is quite the hot topic recently. "Sexy Cosplayers". Love us or hate us, we're here.
Let me back this up. If you don't know who I am, I'm a model, a burlesque performer, and a cosplayer. When I was growing up, I was a lanky, skinny, shapeless, bracefaced, and unibrowed kid. When other girls were getting pretty and shapely, learning how to do their hair and makeup.. I was playing video games and writing fanfiction about marrying Lance Bass (No, I'm not kidding. They were awful and cringey as all getout).

The Team is back and it’s “business as usual.” Warner Bros. Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Further details about the new season — including premiere date and network partner — will be announced at a later time.
Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “9 Best Animated TV Series Drawn from Comics,” “Young Justice” has been equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling. A Preview from "Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea"
Dark Horse Comics invites you to celebrate Halloween with a preview of the upcoming original graphic novel, Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea, co-written by legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, co-written and illustrated by Eisner Award winning artist Gary Gianni and colored by award winning colorist Dave Stewart.
“The biblical Jonah was vomited up by a whale, but Hellboy might not be as lucky,” said Gary Gianni. “A superstitious crew and a figure in black will make sure there's no escaping the silent sea.”
Following the events of the classic story “The Island”, Hellboy sets sail from the wreckage of a deserted island only to cross paths with a ghost ship. Taken captive by the phantom crew that plans to sell him to the circus, Hellboy is dragged along by a captain who will stop at nothing in pursuit of a powerful sea creature.

ARRIVAL - Finding the Common Ground
We don't post a lot of the 20 or so clips, trailers and viral bits Hollywood pumps out for each film we are interested in (plenty of other websites keeping up with that stuff), but when this clip landed on my desk, I knew I wanted to share it as quickly as possible. The upcoming scifi film "Arrival" is a story of first contact with alien life, stressing the importance of two races coming together, overcoming differences and a massive language barrier with the stakes as high as they come. It's a message that couldn't be more relevant today as our understanding of our own human brothers and sisters seems to be worse than it has ever been. This clip expresses how we might reach a deeper understanding of each other when we find common ground...

Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn Presents IN THE MOOD FOR GORE
14 years ago, Subway Cinema unleashed the first "In the Mood for Gore" on unsuspecting New Yorkers in a now-legendary, mind-shattering series of screenings. Now...it’s baaaack! Prepare yourself for a roller coaster ride of high caliber thrills, grue-covered chills, and epic body fluid spills as we show you why nobody is as insane in the membrane as Hong Kong filmmakers in their prime. Sometimes you’re in the mood to get funky, sometimes you’re in the mood for love, but this October get in the mood for gore with some of Hong Kong’s most infamous sense shockers and hard rockers.

Dead By Daylight: Halloween DLC Releasing NOW!!
We caught up with the devs of Dead by Daylight at New York Comic Con 2016 where they revealed the ins and outs of their HALLOWEEN DLC characters and level for my readers at Dread Central! Pit a small army (well if 4 can be seen as an army) of Laurie Strodes against Michael Myers on the streets of Haddonfield, complete with meticulously pruned shrubbery and a cop car out front with lights blazing red against rows of white fence. As Michael approaches, the familiar score from John Carpenter adds to the menace. One survivor will be the object of Michael's obsession when stalking is a supernatural power...

NYCC 2016: The Walking Dead: All Out War Miniatures Game
We cover more than our fair share of toys here at Idle Hands, so it was inevitable that we would zero in on the newest collectibles at Image Comics while scouring the floor at New York Comic Con 2016! These folks aren't known for releasing a great many fantastic plastics, but their Saga comic action figure boxed set is 100% drool worthy and this year's NYCC exclusive Lying Cat statue was painfully hard to resist. While making whimpering sounds up against Lying Cat's Plexiglas enclosure, something caught my eye at the far end of the booth and I ran over to investigate. Greeting me was a very pleasant man and a tabletop miniatures game called The Walking Dead: All Out WAR!!! Let's check out what was inside...

The New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 Poster Is Pure Punk Rock *UPDATED!* Teaser trailer Added!!!
Director James Gunn loves the art of the tease and one might say he excels at this. Dropping hints in flash Facebook interviews, posting shadowy pictures, suggesting future casting with question marks thrown about...it's all a part of his arsenal as he drives his social media in a way few other directors can claim. Today, Gunn revealed the first poster from Marvel Studios' GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2...and it's just as raw, dirty and punk rock as we hoped it might be....

NYCC 2016: Kidrobot on MADBALLS!!
New York Comic Con is quickly becoming a hunter's show. Where as San Diego Comic Con is known for being a center for previews, be they from the world of toys, movies, tv or comics, New York is a little more laid back, allowing people from the opposite coast to see a portion of those toys and mayyyybe something new here and there. This makes reporters interested in toy news hunt in every booth for little bits of newsworthy plastics...a figure here...a new variant there...OR A WHOLE LINE OF MADBALLS!!!

NYCC 2016: Lily Vs LineCon
by Lily Stitches
Hi there, your friendly neighborhood sparkly cosplayer here with my coverage of NYCC on Friday!
It was my first day at the con, and my theme this year was "Cute but comfy!" So I put my hair in pigtails, did my makeup and threw on my Valentine Variant Harley Quinn Bootysuit by Booty and the Geek (check out the website at buttday.com). Luna put on her super adorable pink sparkly Batgirl cosplay and we were quite the pair! We admittedly took our time getting ready, because from our Facebook feeds we kept seeing our friends posting about the absurd line to get into the Javits Center. And we were not disappointed by said line. We rolled up at about 11:15, when in past years we could stroll right up and into the con, this year we were greeted by a swarm of people and NYCC volunteers hollering at everyone to get into the line. No questions just get into the line. We saw friends of ours who said they had been waiting for almost 2 hours. It moved, slowly but surely. And we finally got in around 12:30. We said good bye to our line buddy JR Cosplay who was cosplaying a horrifyingly accurate Zoom and went straight to the Block. Our senses were immediately overwhelmed with the music, the attendees screaming at each other, and the colorful booths of awesome surrounding us. We tried to move around more, but it was wall to wall people.

NYCC 2016: Huckleberry's Harry Potter Plush... So Soft, You Might Die
It's been a very long time since our hero J.K. Rowling has approved a line of Harry Potter plush. In toy years, it's like 5 times as long, seeing as how every license under the sun is getting some sort of Funko love these days. Harry Potter got the POP treatment not so long ago, but getting your favorite wizarding kiddies in a squishable format was something alluding fans across the planet. In come our old school buddies at Huckleberry Toys with a Harry Potter plush line imported from Takara of Japan..and do I even need to say it?
My God....they are...so fluffy.

Those well versed in the Kung Fu forms of Idle Hands know Bigshot Toyworks well, and know their work is consistently a FLAWLESS VICTORY!! Their booth at New York Comic Con is always a mix of past work they are extremely proud of, current work to show off to the masses that serves as a way for people to exclaim "HEY..YOU DID THAT!!" and then shine their love light on Klim and his crew...and brand new work that often causes art toy die hards to make a hrrrnnnggg sound and immediately ask "How much?!". NYCC 2016: Bustin Makes Lily Feel Good
Hi there, Lily Stitches here!
I have been an avid Ghostbusters fan since I was just a wee baby Lily. I watched the original film countless times with my mom (spawning the question during the notorious ghost blowie scene "Mom what is that ghost doing to Ray?" to which she answered "Uh... kissing him?") and sitting on my floor in front of the TV on the weekends watching the cartoon and playing with my bizarre Granny Gross toy (look it up, it's creepy as all hell).
When the new film came to theaters I was very wary walking into the theater, but ECSTATIC walking out. I loved every minute of the film, but above all.. I loved that they were girl Ghostbusters. Funny girl ghostbusters.
