Swamp Thing Coming to 4K UHD + Blu-ray

Swamp Thing on 4K UHD + Blu-ray
MVD Entertainment Group is proud to announce SWAMP THING, licensed from MGM, for release in North America on both 4k Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats on July 25, 2023. The release includes both the original PG-Rates theatrical cut and, for the first time in North America, the unrated international cut.

Swamp Thing is an American superhero horror film written and directed by Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream), based on the DC Comics character of the same name created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. It tells the story of a brilliant scientist, Dr. Alec Holland (Ray Wise, Robocop) and a government agent, Alice Cable (Adrienne Barbeau, John Carpenter’s The Fog) who have developed a secret formula that could end world hunger and change civilization forever. Little do they know, however, that their arch nemesis, Arcane (Louis Jourdan, Octopussy) is plotting to steal the serum for his own selfish schemes. Looting the lab and kidnapping Cable, Arcane douses Holland with the chemicals and leaves him for dead in the swamp. Mutated by his own formula, Holland becomes “Swamp Thing” - a half human/half plant superhero who will stop at nothing to rescue the beautiful Cable and defeat the evil Arcane...even if it costs him his life.

DC Universe Digital Service Announces Series for Harley Quinn, Swamp Thing & More

With a world of multi-media enterprises looking to take a bite out of Netflix's massive direct to viewer streaming dollars, DC Comics, or more properly, their uber Daddy Warner Brothers, have announced DC Universe, a first-of-its kind, immersive digital experience designed just for DC fans. One glance at the DC Comics website will reveal pretty title cards for Titans, Swamp Thing, Young Justice: Outsiders and Harley Quinn. Seems a little odd to launch with two shows that are seemingly about the teenage sidekicks of the DC Comic Universe, and odder still they would shove the Young Justice and Outsiders names together, but once you realize Young Justice is the continuation of the mega-popular but ill-fated animated TV series, all is forgiven!

The New 52 : Week 2 Mini Reviews!

We've got 11 reviews posted to Heidi MacDonald's THE BEAT! The roundup includes..

Action Comics
Animal Man
Batgirl
Batwing
Detective Comics
Hawk and Dove
Justice League International
Men of War
O.M.A.C.
Stormwatch
Swamp Thing

As Heidi points out, I'm no hardcore comic reader and I'd all but deserted DC Comics when Nightwing became Batman and they made Green Arrow a killer, so you might list me as one of those lost readers DC wants to win back. 11 books later and I'm shocked to holy hell. The new 52 ranges in style from gritty and blood soaked to balls out ridiculous fun! They even found new ways to tell old stories we never thought could be reinvented. THIS is the experiment we've been waiting for and I seriously hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. At any rate CLICK THIS LINK and dive right in!

If you'd like to see more detailed reviews of the books like we did for Batgirl, Animal Man and Justice League International, give a shout and be loud!

The weather is heating up, so its time to start compiling your lists to see how in debt you will be after San Diego Comic Con this year! YAY credit cards!! After NECA's first strike, Mattel jumps into the ring with an exclusive showing on G4, revealing half their goodies and teasing the rest in quick, nose bleed rendering pans across the rest. Luckily, we live in the future where I can do screen caps and bring back the eye candy and the info, as best I can manage from blurry source material. Here's the rundown so far:
