Fantastic Fest: Trailer Drop for GIRL IN THE NIGHT

GIRL IN THE NIGHT
“Girl in the Night”  follows the aimless life of a lonely kleptomaniac, Rok (Urban Kuntarič). To cut through the mundanity of his night shifts, Rok steals chocolate bars at the gas station where he works. One night, he meets a mysterious girl with severe bruises on her face. She only appears at night, is all about fighting crime, and claims to possess superpowers. If he wants to meet her again, Rok will have to come up with a cunning plan – so he decides to steal her bike.

"Girl in the Night” will celebrate its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX on September 20th. Written and directed by acclaimed Slovenian filmmaker Luka Marčetić (the Series’ “Day of Love” & “Paired Up” and hit comedies “At Hostar,” and “At Hostar 2‰”), “Girl in the Night” brings Fantastic Fest audiences a delightfully deadpan love letter to misfits and the spirit of youth that offers viewers a mix of "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night" crossed with "Napoleon Dynamite", and a serious splash of "Juno". The film stars Urban Kuntarič (“Let Him Be a Basketball Player,” “Consequences,” and series “In the Name of the People”) and Lara Wolf (co-author of “ Scream: The First Voice,” and her films “Tartufferies,” and “Seaview”, headed to audiences soon). Produced by Jerca Jerič and Andraž Jerič of Temporama, with director of Cinematography Lev Predan Kowarski  (“ Man with the Shadow,” “Cent’anni and “Little Trouble Girls” –winning best cinematography at Tribeca Film Festival), and music composed by Primož Hladnik & Boris Benko – Duo Silence (“Slovenian Girl,” “Family Therapy,” and the series “Trigrad”).

Luka Marčetić remarked, “I am deeply interested in people who are mostly quiet, shy, and to a point, enjoy solitary existence. These people often go unnoticed in everyday life, yet they possess a unique strength in their quietness. I always wanted to put them in roles of vulnerable heroes and antiheroes. This is a story about boredom and the search for friendship in very strange circumstances.”
