Disney's Paperman
Disney has always been the kind of company that could create an animated moment so sweet and almost painfully moving, it could bring a room full of adults to tears. Paperman; one of their newest shorts, is one such piece of moving art that grabs you by your heart and doesn't let go. For those out there that may not have seen it yet, we are happy to present this short, courtesy of Disney, who are making a bid for an award of some sort.
The World War Z Super Bowl Spot
Mere days ago we announced Jazwares would be bringing a horde of 6 inch World War Z zombies to pegs at your local plastic pusher and now, we get another taste of what this insane movie will be like. I, personally, am psyched...tower of ant-like undead be damned...I'm digging the intensity of this movie. Paramount wants us to get in on the fun without the hardship of sitting through all that foosball nonsense, so we get to watch the World War Z Super Bowl Spot early!! Let's GO...
The world is never prepared for fast zombies. June 21st, watch the whole system come crashing down as the ravenous infected attack in nearly unstoppable numbers. Gerald Lane (Brad Pitt) stands on the front lines recording the unfolding horrors and fighting to survive the experience.

Toy Fair 2013 : The WB Push Looney Tunes
Can you recall the last time you saw Looney Tunes merchandise on the shelves at your local toy stores? Man...was it DC Direct that had a line ages ago? If that's the case, those were only in comic shops and specialty retailers. Warner Brothers stores had some fantastic vinyl figures as well...but those days are long gone and the WB shops are closed, and with a new cartoon on the air that does NOT feature cracked out extreeeeme versions of their iconic characters, we need new toys!

Toy Fair 2013 : Aardman Superman
We almost never do one whole article for one action figure, but in this instance, we'll make an exception. When they released the Aardman Batman figure as a New York Comic Con exclusive, people were not surprised. It is such a unique thing, surely DC Collectibles had to sell it directly to the uber fans. When they announced a Aardman Batman and Robin 2 pack would be dropping this May, you could practically hear the manic clapping in the distance, but, happy with this wide release and an extra figure to boot, people thought that would be the end of it. Today...we bring you...Aardman Superman. Looking oh so slothenly in the face of all those heroic, barrel chested action figures we showed off earlier today, Aardman Superman looks content to eat cookies and..well..not much else! My kinda guy.
DC Collectibles are sure to show off all manor of PVC Statues, busts and full size statues for Superman: Man of Steel...but nothing will top Aardman Superman. No sir.

Toy Fair 2013 : Jazwares Adventure Time & Regular Show Lineups
OK...you've got your zombie fix for the week. NOW we take a dip into Cartoon Network waters. Jazwares blew my mind this year with their Regular Show toy line, exploring nearly every awesome episode's key moment in action figure perfection. Why they don't spend that sort of effort on Adventure Time is beyond me. IT'S ONLY THE MOST POPULAR CARTOON ON THE PLANET!! Have they kicked into high gear this year and given Adventure Time the spectacular toy line it deserves? Let's find out! Here are the lineups. We've omitted the stuff we knew was out already...

Toy Fair 2013 : Jazwares on World War Z
Remember that article where we thought NECA might be the perfect company for a World War Z action figure line? Well it seems someone else had their eyes set on the undead prize. Jazwares made a big noise this year with releases of Nicktoons, Hanna Barbera, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter AND Scribblenauts toy lines...all at once. Though their Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat lines turned up in the Boy's Action Figure isles of Toys R Us, Jazwares must have felt an urge to take a slice of the horror action as well.
This is a 6 inch action figure line...providing yet another scale to your mismatched zombie horde. ~sigh~ You'll note all of NECA and Mezco's zombie action figures are in a 7 inch scale while McFarlane's The Walking Dead line is at 5 inches. Good news for the Marvel Legends and DC Universe Classics collectors though, I suppose.

Toy Fair 2013 : Superman: Man of Plastic
Soooo...you know how I joke that there won't be one damn surprise left by the time we get to New York Toy Fair in a little over a week? Yea..yea...looks like the PR agents are doing their best to reveal it all before the show even starts leaving nothing but scraps on the show floor. SCRAPS I TELLS YA!! ~end of geek rant~ TODAY, Warner Brothers let loose images of Superman: Man of Steel merchandise from Funco, LEGO and Mattel. Here's the rundown of what we know so far...
Mattel Superman: Man of Steel Movie Masters: 6 inch collector targeted action figures (the last 2 series of these had a Collect-And-Connect component..so perhaps a Build-A-Black Zero?) $14.99 - June release:
Superman (red and blue)
General Zod

Toy Fair 2013 : Factory Entertainment's Archer
You read that right. Now you'll be able to give your kids tiny lil Archer action figures so they can pretend to abuse alcohol, gratuitously shoot down enemy agents and slap that booty at the end of a hard day...or in the middle of it...or do all three while on live television meeting the Queen of England. Such is the way of the Archer. Thanks to a tip from Mintconditioncustom.com, here's the press release...
Factory Entertainment, Inc announced today that it has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with FX Networks to produce a line of collectibles from its hit animated award-winning comedy series, Archer. Featuring the exploits of ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service) agent Sterling Archer, voiced by Emmy nominee H. Jon Benjamin, Archer is hilarious adult animation at its best. The fourth season of the show, which premiered on January 17th, delivered stellar ratings and will run on Thursdays at 10pm e/p for 13 weeks on FX.

Toy Fair 2013 : Sherlock is Coming
Big Chief Studios are getting in on the Toy Fair teaser business you love so much...and by love I mean hate with the passion of 1,00000 burning suns. NO TEASING!!! Anyways, our favorite 12 inch action figure making Brits dropped a teaser today that looks an awful lot like Benedict Cumberbatch sporting his "Sherlock" TV show look. What does that tell us?
THERE'S A 12 INCH SHERLOCK FIGURE ON THE WAY!!!
Not much more news to it as this is, after all, a teaser. We will note that Big Chief only sells their products online, so if you like what you see, today is a good day to dive into their website HERE and scoop up their amazing 11th Doctor and Amy Pond 12 inch figures, or that 10th Doctor figure we showed HERE that had one female friend of ours clutching her ovaries. I admittedly don't know exactly what that means, but I assume it is a sort of happy feeling. We'll assume this mini Cumberbatch will trigger a similar clutching of womanly parts. A little birdie told us Sherlock will definitely have a friend to solve mysteries with, so keep watching for that reveal!

You can't get enough of those shambling, bitey corpses and neither can we, so when Rich from Comics N Toys dropped an email to say he had new images of McFarlane's Walking Dead TV Series 3 action figures, we couldn't say no. To recap what's coming this February...
Merle Dixon - Left for the dead in Season 1 by Rick and the rest of the survivors, Merle Dixon, the estranged brother of Daryl Dixon, makes his full return in Season 3 and this time he is re-armed and ready for action! This action-figure comes with 20 points of articulation, prosthetic arm w/ removable bayonet, assault rifle, pistol and knife.

Toy Fair 2013 : A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Preview
The curse of the Yeti has stuck again on this lot...which is to say the toys in this room moved too damn fast for us to get our shots in! Could have been the radiation too. We can come up with a lot of excuses. Suffice to say, what we pulled out of this folder is a little grainy..a little out of focus..and shot at a distance...but as always, we'll take what we can get. After all..beggars and all that.
Nothing earth shattering among the items they had on hand at UK Toy Fair in representation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle kingdom. Playmate's "Ooze" theme for this year has already started to hit stores in the states and you'll find several reviews around the interwebs. Their "Flingerz" (Turtles that shoot discs out of their bellies...adorable) assortment has hit stores as well, right alongside the baby turtles swimming in vats of Ooze. New to me was the Mutagen Ooze Drop Copter...which is just what it sounds like..and the Ooze Cruiser, two more new vehicles that look like trikes called the Road Raider (with an exclusive Leo figure) and the Stealth Bike (with an exclusive Raph decked out in his helmet and gloves) which sort of makes him look like a Road Warrior or a cop (can we get a Village People TMNT set going??!!), and a Pop Up Pizza Playset called....(oh man...I love the designers of this)..wait for it...ANCHOVY ALLEY!!! The set features trap doors, shooting pizzas and sliding doors.

Toy Fair 2013 : Tom and Jerry... Coming.. Soon?
Since we were on the subject of cartoons today, I thought we'd continue the party with a visit from some childhood friends. It is absolutely amazing (and awesome) that Tom and Jerry is still on TV, on heavy rotation on channels like Cartoon Network and Boomerang. With all that horrific violence to blow off the top of any ultra Christian bible thumper's head, you'd think it would have been banned by now. With an announcement from Cartoon Network, it is quite the opposite.
The Tom and Jerry Show: The iconic cat and mouse rivals are back in The Tom and Jerry Show, a fresh take on the classic series. Preserving the look, characters and sensibility of the original, the all-new series shines a brightly colored, high-definition lens on the madcap slapstick and never-ending battle that has made Tom and Jerry two of the most beloved characters of all time. The Tom and Jerry Show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

The Fate of Your DC Nation
Earlier we ran an article about Cartoon Network's 2013 lineup and all of you eagle eyed DC Comics fanatics immediately realized there was a giant hole in the listings. Young Justice and Green Lantern were missing. This lead some people to believe the shows had finally gotten the rumored axe we'd been dreading, replaced by two new shows, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I dropped my contacts an email and this was the response from Turner...
"Young Justice and Green Lantern are still in premieres and will continue with the current story cycles. We are committed to bringing excellent action fare, and look forward to continuing DC Nation this year with new shorts, interstitials, and of course, Beware the Batman and Teen Titans Go!"
So while we may be still mourning the all too soon loss of the Young Justice toy line, it appears the TV show will keep marching on....for nowwww (cue Vincent Price laugh).

Armed with record-setting ratings success as the only top kids’ network to achieve across-the-board growth in 2012 and its most-watched year in Prime in its 20-year history, Cartoon Network is jumping ahead of the customary Kids Upfront season and taking its show on the road with the CARTOON NETWORK ROAD TOUR. With more than a dozen new productions and multiple returning hit series now slated for the 2013 and early 2014 season, Cartoon Network brought its road-show presentation directly to key clients and promotional partners at their respective home bases the week of January 21 and will continue into March.

Toy Fair 2013 : The Bridge Direct's The Hobbit
Back into Toy Fair 2013 with an update on The Bridge Direct's The Hobbit action figure line! We are one film down and 2 to go...and fans have nooooo idea how they are going to stretch that out. While we'd hoped to glean some insight on that from the toy line....no such luck. That Peter Jackson is a crafty mofo. The Bridge's initial 2013 offerings seem to focus squarely on rounding out their first film, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to get out two waves this year. Perhaps one in the second quarter and one right before the next film's release. No actual word on that, but here's what we do know...
Action figures, playsets, mini collectible figures, roleplay and board games all on the way. PLAYSETS!!! Yaaaay. The Mini collectible figures they mention appear to be those we covered HERE. Looks like they will bring them to the US, so Hobbit fans, get ready to share in the pains of mystery figure hunting. aaaannnd...go.

SPIDER-HAM. Lookit his little piggie face. Pure gold. Go forth and create.

Superman Unbound
As is tradition when the latest DC Universe Animated Original Movie drops in our lap, we provide you with a preview of the next film in line! Would it kill Warner Brothers to make a movie that isn't Batman or Superman or Batman and Superman at least ONCE a year? Yes...yes it would...so we present...the next Superman epic...SUPERMAN UNBOUND...
The story is loosely adapted from the 5 issue mini series "Superman: Braniac" having something to do with Superman being over protective of the ones he loves, Supergirl finding out her parents are within the Bottled City of Kandor (the last remaining piece of Krypton, miniaturized and kept safe by Superman) and Brainiac treating the man of steel as if he were a minor annoyance...like a gnat to be swatted away. Brainiac is looking to scoop up Metropolis and use it as a source for information about the planet Earth before he destroys it. There's said to be a lot of the powerhouse throwdowns we love to see in these DC animated films, but also a very heavy emotional side to the story. The DC Animation Crew is looking to veer away from following the comic stories beat for beat in the future.

There's said to be a lot of the powerhouse throwdowns we love to see in these DC animated films, but also a very heavy emotional side to the story. The DC Animation Crew is looking to veer away from following the comic stories beat for beat in the future.

J.J. Abrams to Direct Star Wars: Episode VII
J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams will be directing and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay.
“It’s very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie,” said Kennedy. “J.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture.”

Toy Fair 2013 : New Licenses for New Toys
Once a year I used to have the pleasure of dropping in on the New York Licensing Show to get a look at art for new projects, see what older movies the companies were pushing for new product and sometimes, if we were lucky, see actual toys set to hit shelves in the future. That show moved to a shmoozier location in Las Vegas, so now I am left to beg for images from people who get to attend. At UK Toy Fair, the show is primarily like a smaller version of the US counterpart with rows of new product available for order to shops large and small, but that doesn't mean companies can't tempt those manufacturers showing off their wares with the possibilities of licenses for films they love.
...And with that opening teaser, we present two advertisements that reveal..well..not much...but spark a fire collectors love to poke at and watch grow into reality. It's Possibility. Today's licensing offerings are tomorrows new action figures on the pegs!

Toy Fair 2013 : McFarlane's Walking Dead TV Series 3 & Comic Series 2
You know what's the worst thing about doing a show thousands of miles away? You can't point at something and yell GO GET MORE OF THAT!! Today, that lack of pointy power became apparent while digging through UK Toy Fair images. It seems our cadre of ninja photographers came across McFarlane's Walking Dead TV Series 3 action figures but, not being horror fans and only familiar with pics we had posted, they said "We've seen these before...moving on.." Sad panda. Luckily. I'd asked them countless times to shoot a couple of shots here and there just in case, when in doubt. SO..the good news is we can see what the actual TV Series 3 figures look like in person. The bad news is they are allllmost Yeti shots (a term you should be familiar with by now, referring to an object fleeing the camera, resulting in a blurry blob of varying degrees.) Oh well. They aren't all too bad. For better or worse, here are the goods with our info from a past article...

Toy Fair 2013 : Funko on Iron Man 3
Oh...that lovable, huggable multi-millionaire Tony Stark...is about to get even more squeezable. FUNKO..whom we probably haven't talked about for a whoooole dayyyy...who take the world and make it ridiculously adorkable...have gotten their mitts on the Iron Man 3 movie license. Mr.Funko was quick to point his Maximum Cutification Ray at this one and what was left when the smoke cleared...well...what can we say. As always...painfully adorable..but POP! Vinyl and Plush was not all he had on his plate this day. Oh Noes...but more on that in a bit. FIRST things first, the POPS!

Toy Fair 2013: NECA Prometheus Series 2 and Beyond
Marching on with our Toy Fair 2013 coverage beaming in from the UK, we get another look at NECA's excellent Prometheus Series 2 action figures. Following the release of the Engineer in the "chair suit" and the Engineer in a pressure suit come David 8 and Deacon, slated to drop late February. David comes with an alternate "geared up" head to slip under his space helmet and a flashlight and Deacon comes with a dissected Engineer head and bendy Hammerpede accessories. David stands 6 3/4" tall and has over 20 points of articulation. We were told Holloway was bumped to a later series, but his presence on the back of the series 2 packaging must mean he is coming SOON! I'm sure we'll learn more at the US Toy Fair in February.

Toy Fair 2013: LEGO Minifigures Series 10
As we continue our Toy Fair 2013 coverage across the pond for the UK portion of the festivities, we've had a selection of images not unlike those we see of that damned Yeti who won't stand still long enough to shoot him (pictures I mean...we'd never kill a Yeti. I loved Harry and the Hendersons.) Pictured are the newest batch of LEGO Minifigures..series 10 we believe..in all their glory..albeit from a puzzling angle. Hell, we'll take what we can get!
We've squinted hard over the images sent in, selected the least ghost like one and can make out the following (feel free to laugh at our names)...

Toy Fair 2013 : Day 1: Show Floor
UK Toy Fair is under way with the first day being press day, so all the companies with mascots suited their characters up and sent them out into battle for your consumer dollars ...and your hearts. Aww. We've just started cracking the surface of this show, so consider this the warm up! Here's what went on..
Toy Fair UK (aka THE Toy Fair) is celebrating its 60th birthday. They kicked things off with a speech from Frank Martin, BTHA Chairman...
"As the Chair of BTHA I’m delighted to be making these opening remarks today – at this, our 60th Toy Fair. I’ll tell you more about how we plan to mark this anniversary year later on. But first, let’s deal with the year just past, and our sector’s performance. You do not need me to tell you that this has been a difficult trading year, both at home and abroad, and the toy industry, just like other sectors, has had to share some of that pain. The good news is that, even in these difficult times, the resilience of the toy sector continues. Last year, the overall entertainment industry declined in sales value by 12%, by contrast the UK Toy Industry declined by 1%.

Alphas Cancelled
"Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season. We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support."
This was the official statement from the Syfy channel earlier today (via Deadline) as they sounded the death gong for a fairly excellent super hero show cut down before its prime. I did watch Alphas when I still had cable and though the show had its problems, I enjoyed it quite a bit. There was great room for improvement...but the fact that any time I mentioned the show in public, every geek around me said "What the hell is Alphas?" was always a very bad sign. In a world where super hero movies dominate the box office, shouldn't a channel called Syfy kick everyone's ass in that arena??!! Sad sad sad.

Prepare for DISNEY INFINITY!!
I was wondering how long it would take someone to knock off the Skylanders video game and figure model! Let's face it..it's a brilliant idea and a proven money maker. My money was on Pokemon to swipe the concept first but it seems the masterminds at Disney have it covered...
Disney Interactive today unveiled its most ambitious gaming initiative ever, Disney Infinity. This all new game platform unlocks the freedom to create stories and play experiences starring beloved characters from The Walt Disney Company and Pixar Animation Studios. Disney Infinity allows players to both experience original adventures in some of their favorite Disney and Pixar worlds and to build their own worlds using the power of their imagination.

Bendis Talks Guardians of the Galaxy in Marvel Now
We don't talk a whoooole lot about comics here on Idle Hands, but I thought, what with a Guardians of the Galaxy movie being one of the most talked about topics in the geekiverse at the moment, let's take a closer look at this book and get some insight into the big screen event!
"This will be the most surprising chapter of Marvel NOW! This is a brand new #1 that starts these characters off in a place for new readers but doesn't rob them of what made them great in the first place. It's also a great place for you to hop on and see why we're excited for these characters to be in a movie and why it's as good a franchise as Marvel has. This ties into a lot of things already happening in the Marvel Universe. The things that have happened on Earth in the past few events have had a butterfly effect through the galaxy. The abuse of time travel, the use of the Infinity Gems...these things have costs. The Guardians are the first line of defense for Earth. If you're looking at Earth in the Marvel Universe from a distant, it looks like an insane asylum! It's a place where the Phoenix Force doesn't destroy the world, where Galactus doesn't feed. It's the scariest place anywhere to the rest of the galaxy! Wait until Earth joins the cosmic community... A lot of big time cosmic players are on stage right from the beginning.

Another Look at Iron Man 3 Figures
Yeesh...have we gotten through a week for the last 3 months without giving an Iron Man 3 movies toys update? Probably not. Today we got tipped off on more IM3 figures popping up across the water on ebay (this time from viperskingdom). I picture folks over there like farmers picking apples...you just breeze in and pluck whatever new figures you need, remarking "OOhh! They are still warm!" Truly, it must be paradise. To recap on details we laid out in our last article...since these appear to be the same kids...
"Iron Man 3 Iron Assemblers Action Figure Assortment: 14 "Connectable" figures (wave 1, Feb 2013) with multiple interchangable pieces to deliver maximum customization. Wave 2 in March and Wave 3 in April." The lineup includes Iron Man Mark 42, War Machine Movie Version, Iron Patriot, Stealth Tech Iron Man, Hypervelocity Iron Man and Starboost Iron Man

New DC Collectibles Pre-Orders Reveal Man of Steel and Aardman Batman & Robin
As we inch closer to Toy Fair 2013, all our favorite toy companies will be teasing the hell out of our wallets with silhouetted images, close up shots of elbows and blurry simulated action shots as if Spider-Man were the last surviving Sasquatch in America. Today, DC (is it Collectibles now??) cuts through all the pretense and slight of hand to show off five new items with enough style to blow your fragile geek mind. An Idiot Abroad 3
Karl Pilkington has experienced things many only dream of. He’s gained notoriety for his pilgrimage to see the Seven Wonders of the World and to conquer the ultimate “Bucket List.” But after all of that, Karl is just as annoyed and unhappy as ever. Now, Ricky Gervais has convinced Karl to embark on another ambitious expedition; from Italy to China following in the footsteps of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Joining Karl on the excursion is Ricky’s diminutive friend–film and television star Warwick Davis (“Life's Too Short”, “Return of Jedi,” the “Harry Potter” franchise)–who tries to raise Karl’s spirits while broadening his perspective on AN IDIOT ABROAD 3, premiering Saturday, January 19 at 9 PM ET/PT on Science Channel.

Ghost Team One
In a world where nearly every concept has been done to death, you can honestly say the "Ghost Comedy" has been sorely overlooked. A Haunted House has just landed in theaters to dismal reviews, but that is a straight forward spoof of other films. Ready for something original??!!
Brad and Sergio are what wimps refer to as wussies. They don't want to see a ghost. But the girl they want to have sex with sure does. The housemates set out to film their own version of a Paranormal Activity as an excuse to be near her, but quickly find themselves much closer to a demon whore than the woman of their dreams. GHOST TEAM ONE is a comical spin on the found footage genre that delights in the dream space between a man's heart and his balls.
