ZOLOCON x Four Horsemen Reveal Warrior Beasts Skull Man Exclusive

Zolocon 2024 Exclusive Four Horsemen Warrior Beasts Skull Man figure 01
Four Horsemen recently announced their full calendar of events for 2024. One of the dates on that schedule is a return to an event they have done for many years – Zolocon!

For this year’s show, which takes place on February 23-25 at the Fuge in Warminster, PA, Four Horsemen Studios is doing something special by partnering with Zoloworld to create a special figure release for this show. We are excited to reveal the Officially Licensed Warrior Beasts Skull Man figure!

This figure is a tribute to the classic Skull Man character! Zoloworld has released this character as a retro action figure over the years, and having been a part of Zolocon for some time now, it was great to work with them to see how our library of figure parts could be used to create a Four Horsemen Studios’ take on this character.

Video Game Freddy Joins Video Game Jason

If we are to discuss "What exclusive item wore its fandom right out there on its sleeve and caused a HUGE word of mouth swell at San Diego Comic-Con 2013" leading to, what I'd expect, was a massive hoard of buyers at the show and an even larger hoard rushing to online sources to be sure they were not shut out, then we need look no further than NECA and their Friday the 13th Video Game styled Jason action figure...complete with glow in the dark parts. HOLY GRAIL!! Now, NECA has decided Jason needs a friend and who better than the nightmare demon with the unholy back scratchers?

Toy Fair 2013 : Aardman Superman

We almost never do one whole article for one action figure, but in this instance, we'll make an exception. When they released the Aardman Batman figure as a New York Comic Con exclusive, people were not surprised. It is such a unique thing, surely DC Collectibles had to sell it directly to the uber fans. When they announced a Aardman Batman and Robin 2 pack would be dropping this May, you could practically hear the manic clapping in the distance, but, happy with this wide release and an extra figure to boot, people thought that would be the end of it. Today...we bring you...Aardman Superman. Looking oh so slothenly in the face of all those heroic, barrel chested action figures we showed off earlier today, Aardman Superman looks content to eat cookies and..well..not much else! My kinda guy.

DC Collectibles are sure to show off all manor of PVC Statues, busts and full size statues for Superman: Man of Steel...but nothing will top Aardman Superman. No sir.

We've still got a small mountain of UK Toy Fair goodness to sort through as the companies begin to send us all their teasers and pre-show reveals, so keep checking back often and follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/idlehandsblog or https://twitter.com/nomadixxx (if you want your news faster and don't mind mildly psycho chatter.)

SDCC: Dark Horse's Nerdy Domo Figure

Since 2008, Dark Horse has rewarded San Diego Comic-Con attendees with an exclusive product based on viral sensation Domo. Hailing from Japan and adored all over the world, Domo has captured the hearts of pop-culture fans everywhere!

One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the special appearance of Domo creator Tsuneo Goda, who will be visiting from Japan as a sponsored guest of Dark Horse. Various events are planned, including a spotlight program, autograph sessions, and the release of the new Domo and Friends boxed set of PVC figures. To add to the excitement, Dark Horse has collaborated with Hong Kong toy company Toy2R to create a special exclusive Qee toy version of Domo.

“We have supported Comic-Con for over twenty-five years,” Dark Horse product development head David Scroggy observed, “and it thrills us to be creating a couple of genuinely special releases that contribute to the celebration while adding value for the convention. This is the greatest fan event, and since we are fans ourselves, we have pulled out all the stops!”

The Comic-Con exclusive shows the fuzzy brown cave dweller embracing his inner geek, resulting in a one-of-a-kind Nerd Domo Qee figure. Only 1,200 of this unique Domo piece are being offered, with a limit of four per customer. Sales will be at the Dark Horse booth.

Revoltech Iron Man Is Born

For the newbs in the audience, Revoltech action figures are made by Japanese company Kaiyodo featuring a revolving click-joint system allowing for maximum posability in a figure somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 to 5 inches tall. Most come packed with extra hands, weapons and a stand to make this the coolest little sucker on your desk at work. Add to that licenses like Transformers, Aliens, Predator, Batman, Trigun, popular Manga titles and hot Anime girls and you can't go wrong. Now it seem Kaiyodo have snapped up a Marvel Movie license and are showing off their first piece - Iron Man Mark 6!! He'll come packed with 2 sets of hands, hand blasts, a flight stand with blast effect and a nameplate. No word yet if this is the start of a Revoltech Marvel Movie onslaught, much like we've been getting from Hot Toys, but the second there is more info, we'll be sure to report on it! To buy Revoltech figures, check in with your local comic shop...otherwise they are easily googlable online. Amazon even has their own exclusive line of mix and match figures!

UPDATE: NECA's Mind Blowing Quarter Scale Classic Predator Figure

Prepare to be AMAZED.

"Standing over 19" tall, but it's the volume & mass overall that's most impressive." boasts the NECA crew. They go on to say "His arms are fully poseable & we're using soft goods on robe sleeves & skirt part to allow for articulation. Retail around $80. Available April 2011. 3 different versions will be available, so choose your favorite head or buy 'em all. This was truly a labor of love and one of the largest most intricate figures we have ever made. We know YOU wanted him & we found a way to make it. The original, the classic, the best. It will be packaged fully assembled so it will be a HUGE box and an impressive sight to behold. We had this in development for some time and wanted to wait until we knew it was really happening and would be all we wanted it to be (before making the announcement.) The separate body net was a major goal we wanted to make happen...the detail, the deco, the size. This is the definitive 1987 Predator!"

Hope you were wearing a helmet cuz your mind has just been BLOWN!! Congratulations to team NECA for a seriously amazing toy in a market that seems content to cut back on details with 90's era looking figures as a result. NECA paves the way. Raise that bar and KICK SOME ASS!!

UPDATE: These are limited to 5k pieces WORLDWIDE, so get your pre-order in ASAP or be crying later as you stare at the empty hole in your life where a giant Predator should be.

Ghostface ...of the Undead?

WAAAAAAAY back in the olden days when Movie Maniacs was the only action figure line daring to make horror toys via McFarlane, we got a Ghostface action figure to menace our shelves with superior stabby action. Now, as Scream 4 prepares to hit theaters, NECA want to make sure you've got a little 7 inch GF in hand at the theater on opening night.

It seems the masters of pop culture plastics have not one but TWO different Ghostfaces on the way. One is described as the "Classic" look. The other... ZOMBIE??!! WHAT A TWEEST!! Have we just uncovered a major plot point of the film or just a costume change? Let's face it, those robes are getting old and it's got to be hard to chase today's steroid pumped teens in it. Plus, Zombies are so hot right now. DISCUSS!!

The toy is due to drop February, 2011 while the movie hits April 15th.

NOTE FOR THE TOY GEEKS: The "Zombie" Ghostface is packed 2 to 6 in a case, so the chase is on.

Bif Bang Pow Roll Out More LOST Figures

Now, your first impulse is going to be to spit your drink out when you see these, at which point I will direct your attention to the big writing on the bottom of each pic that says PROTOTYPES..as in these figures are far from done..and from the look of them, they've got a long way to go before completion. Next I'll direct your attention to the Venture Brothers MEGO style figures and point out how..not so good..those looked at the beginning. Bif Bang Pow doesn't churn out drek, so they went back to the artists and sure enough, these things are now a slice of fried gold. SO..chorttle all you like, but I assure you, the finished products will be miles better than these...somewhat awkward prototypes I wish they hadn't shown in the first place. AND NOW..without further fanfare and fireworks..we present the newest members of the LOST MEGO-esque figure line coming March 2011! The lineup includes...

Miles (Freighter Outfit)
Claire (Preggers and ready to pop)
Jack Shephard (Oceanic Flight Outfit)
Sayid Jarrah (Oceanic Flight Outfit)
Sawyer (Dharma Security)
Juliet Burke (70's Outfit)

Pre-orders are up NOW on http://www.entertainmentearth.com/

The Jon Stewart Stormtrooper Action Figure

Presented as a gift from George Lucas and surely a pinnacle in one of media's head geek's career, we present the Jon Stewart Stormtrooper action figure!! The little guy comes with an alternate head so you can put him into battle with our without the face fur. Good Jon....EVIL JON!! It's like having your own Mirror Mirror Stormtrooper. Watch the world fold in on itself as the Trek and Wars worlds collide!!

But seriously, the Jon Stewarttrooper isn't for sale, but it's damn cool, isn't it? I think that should be the new exclusive for sale at the end of Star Tours....and then I will demand a three pack of Stewart blasting Jar Jar in the face with Jorg Sacul looking on in horror.

Jazwares Gives Life to Robot Chicken NEEEEERRRRRRD!!

..and yes you have to scream the word like that, otherwise Ogre will think YOU are a nerd, run into the room and kick you square in the balls. You've seen the commercials. He's a barbarian now. He can do it.

Robot Chicken...the license that has been with SOTA toys who promised us a genuine Humping Robot action figure for years now. In a surprising turn, it seems Jazwares have stepped in, snagged the license and POOF...WE HAVE TOYS! Well so far, we have toy..and that's a good start.

Marvel Select Juggernaut Making All Geeks Cry Tears Of Joy

After years of begging Diamond Select to create more characters that will compliment the Marvel Legends line, we've finally got ourselves a new Juggernaut!!!! I'll allow you 5 minutes of celebration now.

To continue, Marvel Select makes the big bulky guys like no other company, so it is a no brainer for us to be constantly moaning at them to make our favorite Marvel Comics powerhouses into lovable plastics. Further, since they sell straight to comic shops, they can make obscure chatacters and not worry much about them selling, since Marvel Legends fans have absolutely nothing else to buy these days!! I laugh..and then I cry a little. With Juggernaut, we get a character sorely in need of an update, hopefully in a scale that will make us fall out of our Incredible Hulk bean bag chairs, AND recognizable to the movie geeks, since he did have an appearance or 2 in X-Men United. TRIPLE WIN!! Sculpting by Gentle Giant and paints by the legendary Eddie Wires make this a dream project we hope to see a repeat of over and over and over until the entire Marvel Universe is finally COMPLEEEEETE!! Here's the skinny...

A Diamond Select Release! Sculpted by Gentle Giant! The ranks of the best-selling Marvel Select line expand to include one of the deadliest mutants ever — the unstoppable Juggernaut! Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios and standing a massive 7" tall, the Juggernaut is the latest release in DST’s in-scale, oversized Marvel Select figures! Charles Xavier's half-brother, Cain Marko, is ready to join Magneto in the fight against the X-Men — and anyone else that stands in their way! Featuring Marvel Select’s standard 16 points of articulation, The Juggernaut — and the sans-helmet chase variant figure — are the textbook definition of “unstoppable”!

Expect Juggers to hit stores this August for the low low price of 20 beans. Make this a sell out and show Hasbro that we are dying for new Marvel figures that look as if they can step on their G.I. Joes.

And just because I'm a full service geek, here's a list of figures I'd love to see Marvel Select tackle next...

The Wrecking Crew
Luke Cage
Terrax
Dragon Man
Blastaar
Apocalypse
Ultron
Doc Samson
Titanium Man
Iron Clad
Volstagg
Hydro Man
Warlock
New School Venom (believe it or not, he hasn't been done properly)
Dormammu
S'ym
Super Adaptoid
Mimic
Sauron

You make em', we'll buy em'. Deal?

NECA's Machete Action Figure

HE'S ALMOST HERE!! Finally, the most bad ass of Mexicans will grace the shelves of nerds across the globe as they make a half assed attempt to do his voice amid pitched plastic battles. I bet Danny Trejo could take out Starscream. He could definitely behead Zartan. Ohhh, the possibilities.

The first ever action figure of cult movie icon Danny Trejo, star of the new Robert Rodriguez film Machete. This figure is highly detailed, poseable, with a lifelike likeness and 2 machete weapons. Look for him at retail this September.

SOTA's Mini Key Humping Robot

SOTA just posted images of their long awaited Humping Robot from Robot Chicken, who doesn't exactly have humping action anymore...unless you do it yourself.

This Articulated Humping Robot Keychain/Action Figure can be dangled from keys, purses, backpacks, or whatever you darn well please. And when he's not dangling you can pose him however you like. We've collected a few images of him doing what he does best. You should be seeing him in fine retailers in the 3rd quarter of 2010. 12 dollars a hump.

So, if the robot is slightly larger than a coffee mug, that would ALMOST put him in scale with Hasbro's new Iron Man movie action figure line! Keep one of those spots in the hall of armors opened! Now where do I get a scale washing machine...

A Brief History of Werewolves in Plastic

The Wolfman opens this weekend, so we thought we'd take this opportunity to celebrate our furry friend in a non furry format.

The Mangler
- McFarlane toys' Spawn series 7 gave birth to this werewolf with odd proportions. The extended snout makes one think of a specific entry in the Howling series. Comic fans will notice he's the perfect stand in for the werewolf from Scud: The Disposable Assassin! This figure also has a redish variant.

Howling Wolfinica
- Yellow Submarine's Resurrection of Monstress like gave us female versions of classic movie monsters. Wolfinica has a little punk rock in her (as noted by the nip ring) and some Rat Fink-esque pets to keep her company as she jams on her guitar. Odd..or oddly hot? Wolfinica has a glow in the dark variant.

Werewolf by Night
- Toybiz created the ultimate figure pack for their Marvel Legends line with greats like Dracula, Zombie, Frankenstein and Werewolf by Night, all based on their appearances in Marvel comics. This MIGHT be the most articulated werewolf figure ever brought to mass retail.

Wetworks Werewolf
- Back to McFarlane, masters of monsters. Definitely a unique spin on the werewolf form, favoring the bulky body not unlike the American Werewolf in London monster. This particular figure can stand straight up or down on all fours. He comes in light grey, dark grey and brown.

Raze
- From Underworld, naturally! Mezco nabbed the license and everyone was clamoring for toys from the first film, but the crew were a little too ahead of their time and produced figures in the currently favored 4 inch scale. Woops.

Bram Stoker's Dracula Boxed Set
- Back to McFarlane who utilized their license to make more monsters, forgoing a shot at top hat adorned Gary Oldman. Instead, we get the bat creature and wolf creature who only stand properly on their bases included in this boxed set.

Vereticus
- One of Stan Winston's last line of action figures was rescued and brought to retail by NECA. Blood Wolves also included a more feral wolf creature Lycon and a more traditional werewolf, Wulv. Vereticus was definitely the cream of this crop and even comes with an alternate helmeted head.

Were-Oz
- Ozzy Osbourne's Bark at the Moon is legendary among metal heads and we all know, McFarlane is metal. He's little, he doesn't pose well (or at all), won't stand unless pegged into a base and is pretty damn ugly...but it's the Oz man..so we all bought it. Fo sho.

Oz
- Sideshow's Buffy the Vampire Slayer 12 inch line had some excellent pieces, including this Werewolf Oz, a San Diego Comic Con 05' exclusive. The line was hit or miss as far as likenesses go, but Ozwolf nailed it.

Werewolf Playset
- McFarlane again!! Their Monsters playset line created some excellent figures and playsets for them to rampage through. the Werewolf set even comes with my former boss, Steve Hamady, as a hapless hunter who is torn limb from limb. Make me clean out the Spawn van, will ya?!

American Werewolf in London Nightmare Demon
- He may not STRICTLY be a werewolf, but he sure looks like one. SOTA toys made 3 different demons for the film, but sadly never got around to making the wolf or his half eaten buddy. They did make a nice size wolf from Dog Soldiers though...and that almost makes up for it. Almost.

Note: George the Animal Steele, Todd McFarlane and Evil Christopher Walken are not werewolves..but we love them anyway.
