Kotobukiya's Bushoujo Evil Dead 2 Ash Williams

Kotobukiya Bishoujo Ash Williams Evil Dead 2 figure

We dare you to ask this girl for some sugar! Illustrator Shunya Yamashita works his magic once again and Kotobukiya renders it in 3 dimensions...with amazing results! The latest entry in Kotobukiya’s Horror BISHOUJO series is the long-awaited Ash Williams from Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn.

Reflecting the violent nature of the film, Ash’s clothes are tattered, exposing her robust form. Ash stands on an exquisitely detailed base modeled after the floor of the cabin from the film, with a decomposing hand peeking out from the cellar door. The Necronomicon Ex-Mortis is detached, allowing you to display it wherever you like. The contrast between the bold, Chainsaw-Brandishing hero and the intricate details in the craftsmanship make this BISHOUJO one you won’t want to miss!

Toy Fair 2014: Kotobukiya on Freddy Vs Jason

The horror world seems to get more collectibles than any other genre. Specifically, Freddy Krueger of Nightmare on Elm Street and Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th enjoy extensive lines of action figures, plush, candy holders...hell there are probably female pleasure devices out there bearing the character's names. Amid all those products, no one had ever re-imagined these two icons of horror as sexy, fit, nubile women. I know right?! WHY THE HELL NOT?! Today, Kotobukiya changes all that.

Kotobukiya's Dark Knight Rises Statue

Is it a surprise to anyone that there are so many Batman collectibles hitting stores at the moment? No..because Batman has always been a little whore as far as merchandising goes. Whooooooore (say it like a 1950's southern woman. it's fun!) Oddly, this year, Spider-Man beat him with oddball products like a Spidey head that opens up to be a science lab, Spidey air hockey and numerous Spidey camping sets, but we'll have a "whose the biggest ho" contest another day! For now, Kotobukiya gets the spotlight...

A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! The Dark Knight is back! Kotobukiya is proud to present a new ARTFX Statue based on the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises. The third part of a trilogy by Christopher Nolan, this summer’s “DKR” pits Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne against both Bane and Catwoman. To celebrate that release you can get the newest incarnation of the big screen hero for your shelf with BATMAN -THE DARK KNIGHT RISES-!

Featuring a beautifully detailed sculpt recreating Batman’s specific appearance in the new film, this new version of the character faithfully recreates the hero’s intricate armored bat-suit with cape and cowl. Standing ready for action, the world’s greatest detective oversees Gotham City from the top of a rocky landscape. Staring down his enemies with his trademark scowl, Batman holds his flowing cape in front of him with his left hand while his right wields one of his wonderful toys; with interchangeable parts you can display him with either a grapple gun or his EMP rifle. Sculpted by MIC, Batman The Dark Knight Rises towers over 15 inches tall (1/6th scale) on a rocky display base that includes a hidden light-up bat symbol.

The Dark Knight Returns to Kotobukiya

The world of collectibles is in a Bat-Frenzy at the moment with anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises movie building to explosive proportions, so it should be of no surprise that Kotobukiya would get in on the Bat-Madness! While the rest of the planet is interpreting the man in black primarily from his film appearances, Koto went a different route with one of their upcoming statues and created a new ARTFX Statue ripped from the pages of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns!

Note his gruff, more seasoned Clint Eastwood-esque visage. Note the bulkier frame to both Batman and Joker as they engage in combat one last time. Thrill to the moment right before Joker loses some teeth to a meaty fist of justice! (I'm copyrighting that..u can't steal it) It's 12 inches of anger, pain and vengeance that were not triggered by the ending of Mass Effect 3. You'll be able to take home the Batman: Hunt the Dark Knight ARTFX Statue this September!

SDCC: The Sexy Super Women of Kotobukiya

For those new to this format, you need only know one thing. Bishoujo = Hotty Anime Girl. That's not a direct translation, but it doesn't make it any less true. This year, Kotobukiya keeps building their world dominating sexy anime lady line with two exclusive variants for San Diego Comic Con...

Marvel Comics Invisible Woman SDCC 2011 Exclusive Bishoujo Statue: MARVEL INVISIBLE WOMAN SDCC 2011 EXCLUSIVE BISHOUJO STATUE A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Kotobukiya is proud to present its convention exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con 2011, a new variant edition of the hit Marvel Comics Fantastic Four bishoujo statue: INVISIBLE WOMAN SDCC 2011 EXCLUSIVE! In the first issue of Fantastic Four in 1961 Sue Storm was a member of Reed Richards’ doomed spaceflight that encountered cosmic radiation, imbuing the four humans onboard with strange abilities. With powers of invisibility and force field creation, Sue became the Invisible Woman (though at first she was the Invisible “Girl”) and a core member of the Fantastic Four! The first version of the character in the amazing Marvel Bishoujo collection (combining iconic superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) captured the character in her modern outfit with special translucent effects. Now Sue Storm is back again featuring her classic 1980s costume and some great special features, all based on an original character reinterpretation by illustrator Shunya Yamashita!

Purchase limits of 1 per person will be in effect and preorders will ship after Comic-Con.

Stands just over 9 inches tall. Scale 1/7th

This exclusive version is limited to just 500 pieces. $59.99

This is a SDCC 2011 exclusive with limited availability to fan who are Not-Attending Comic-Con 2011

DC Comics Evil Supergirl SDCC 2011 Exclusive Bishoujo Statue: A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Coming this summer is a limited edition variant of one of the hottest DC Comics Bishoujo Statues yet! The hit line combining DC’s most beautiful female characters with traditional Japanese stylings has seen plenty of heroines, so it’s time to go bad with EVIL SUPERGIRL LIMITED EDITION! While there have been various incarnations of the character throughout the years, the current one has taken the world by storm. Reintroduced to the world in 2004, Kara Zor-El is the Kryptonian cousin of Superman and has all of the same superpowers. In 2005’s Supergirl #5, Lex Luthor used a Black Kryptonite ray to create a duplicate, evil version of the heroic Supergirl. While the two would later re-assemble with the help of Wonder Woman, Kara’s evil alter ego gained instant fame for her bad attitude and sexy look. Evil Supergirl is based on a design by illustrator Shunya Yamashita, Japan’s leading bishoujo artist known for his art books, video game work, and multiple figural collaborations with Kotobukiya.

Based on the current “New Earth” version of the character and costume and inspired by Supergirl #5, Evil Supergirl arrives on the scene literally floating in the clouds! Dressed in her malevolent two piece black, silver, and vermilion outfit consisting of a very short skirt and midriff-baring top along with knee-length boots, the young Kryptonian proves that bad can look oh so good. Evil Supergirl flies on top of a small cloud formation, twisting to look behind her (and in the process showing off her long legs and just a peek at her silver panties). She’s even joined by an evil, black caped version of her faithful kitty companion Streaky the Supercat! Supergirl’s beautiful flowing blonde hair is further accented by translucent material, and perfectly frames her Bishoujo-styled face with its new yellow eyes and dark makeup.

Early premiere release! Purchase limits of 1 per person will be in effect and preorders will ship after Comic-Con.

Constructed of high-quality pvc. Standing nearly 10 inches tall. Scale ultimate 1/7. Sculpted by Masahiro “Gill Gill” Takahashi.

With a limited run starting with a 360 piece pre-sale at San Diego Comic-Con, this dark beauty won’t be around for long! $59.99

Toy Fair 2011 : Where the F#!$ Are Paul and Heather?

This is the part of toy fair in which Paul and Heather Buckley run themselves into the ground. here's how it's gone so far.

Day 1: (actual day 4 for me since I was the idiot that started toy fair coverage early. Dick.) HASBRO Collector Fiasco, as I've come to call it. This used to be a day of our yearly visit with Hasbro where we'd catch up with friends, get a tour of the showroom section by section and then are let loose to shoot everything with plenty of time to spare. Now we are made to wait in the cold til they are ready for us (a treat that was coupled with snow this year..the kind falling from the sky not still sitting on the ground) and then ushered into another waiting area where somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 "reporters" check their coats. I use douchey air quotes because some of these guys are shooting the show room with a camera phone. This means those of us that came to do serious coverage have to wait while someone slowly focuses, takes a shot, checks it, deems it unworthy, deletes and tries again. They also have no sense of decorum as we all que up waiting for our shot at a busy section like Star Wars..or Transformers..or anything at Hasbro...and these asshats either walk right past you or start in from the other end, whipping out their video phone to do an ultra slow pan of each shelf. Agony.

Kotobukiya's New Rogue Statue

This one is for Lori! I've seen plenty of Rogue statues in my day, but I've always felt they were either totally off or just missed the mark. Today, Kotobukiya hits the bulls-eye.

The amazing X-Men Danger Room Sessions Fine Art Statue series continues with its fourth member and one of the most powerful mutants in existence, Rogue!

Born Anna Marie in Mississippi, the young girl's mutant powers first manifested during a kiss with her childhood boyfriend. Suddenly she found herself absorbing his life energy, and subsequently ran away, taking the nickname Rogue in the process. When touching a mutant, she absorbs powers in addition to memories and skills, making her incredibly powerful and incredibly dangerous.

Ever since the early days of Marvel Comics' mutant adventures, "X" teams have trained together in the ultra high tech facility known as the Danger Room, equipped with state of the art adaptive combat and athletics routines that challenge each participant in unique ways. The training facility has been featured prominently in X-Men comics over the years, as well as in various cartoons and the third X-Men film.

Based on a concept from the artistic pair of Manuel and Leo Silva, Rogue embodies both power and beauty. The spirited mutant is posed dynamically flying in the air, with one foot barely resting on the smashed face of her previous opponent. Meanwhile, Rogue wields a chunk of the Sentinel's brain as a weapon, preparing to hurl it into the next one to challenge her.

The mutant hero's classic costume is beautifully recreated, with the bright green and yellow of the bodysuit standing out within her dark brown jacket. Always enthusiastic in the heat of battle, Rogue's face is perfectly sculpted to show off her fighting spirit!

At nearly 12 inches tall, Rogue is perfectly in scale (1/6) with the other Danger Room Sessions members Wolverine, Psylocke, and Sabretooth (Sold Separately). Sculpted by Erick Sosa, the X-Man is completed by her amazing Sentinel face base on top of a mechanical projector.

Every mutant in the Danger Room Sessions series is mounted on a unique Danger Room holographic environment with translucent parts that glow with a Built In LED Light in the Base.

This Statue is Due Out in the 2nd Quarter of 2011.

POOLWATCH: Kotobukiya's Deadpool Fine Art Statue..and some other Marvel Stuff

It's rare you can look at a new comics wall nowadays, browse the Marvel titles and NOT see Deadpool's sarcastic mug on a cover or 3 (much like Wolverine in the 90's!) Kotobukiya is well aware that the merc with a mouth is the new "It Boy" and wants to give fans a Deadpool statue that captures every annoying, arrogant, insufferable inch of him.

The “Merc with a Mouth” is on a rampage! One of the most popular comic book superheroes in the business, Wade Wilson is popping up everywhere, and now he’s taken over Kotobukiya as the next Fine Art Statue in the Marvel Comics Presents collection, DEADPOOL! Formerly a member of the Weapon X program, Wilson has since struck out on his own as an assassin for hire and independent agent. With his trademark costume, extensive armory, and nonstop witty repartee, Deadpool makes a huge impact wherever he goes.

Never stopping for a moment, Deadpool is posed in the midst of intense action, leaping over a crate with weapons at the ready. His iconic red and black skin-tight costume highlights the mutant assassin’s muscular physique as well as the intense concentration apparent on his face. Deadpool is also laden with his usual assortment of goodies, including the knife sheathed on his left ankle, various waist pouches, and a gun holstered on his right thigh. Depending on what style of fighting you prefer, Deadpool can be outfitted with either set of included arms; one wields his deadly katanas and the other fires intricately detailed Uzis!

Deadpool stands approximately 10 inches tall, leaning over a detailed battle scene complete with crate and even a tiny Deadpool “plush” toy! Sculpted by Erick and William Valenzuela, the demented yet hilarious assassin is recreated in high quality cold cast resin.

Available this August with an MSRP of $200. My only crit would be that Koto should go easy on the glaze. It makes the statue look too shiny. Bowen has always done this right.

In case you've missed it, Kotobukiya is also releasing an X-Men Danger Room Session – Wolverine statue (SRP $169.99 Available in October), a nine inch statue based on Jim Lee's art and sculpted by Erick Sosa featuring a light up base and two interchangeable heads (mask on and mask off.) Psylocke will follow soon after. A Sabretooth Fine Art Statue designed by the Silva Brothers and Sculpted by Erick Sosa is also slated for release as well as a War Machine Art FX Statue (available this October for $119.99).

The Bishoujo line continues in 2010 with the recently announced White Phoenix San Diego Comic Con exclusive.

Sculpted by Koei Matsumoto, White Phoenix is constructed of high-quality pvc plastic and stands approximately 9 inches tall (in 1/8 scale with the other Marvel x Bishoujo statues). The stunning beauty of the White Phoenix will look great in your collection, especially standing side by side with the green Phoenix and her “evil twin,” the Dark Phoenix!

The White Phoenix Bishoujo statues will be available as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive from Preview Night, July 21st! Both the standard and Dark Phoenix versions are available for pre-order now with an SRP of $59.99

Koto also showed off concept art for the next piece; Emma Frost, so we thought that might bear repeating...and showing off...and drooling over.
