Edge of Tomorrow's Official Trailer

Seems like we've been waiting forever for this one! It's a little Vanilla Sky...little Gears of War..little Matrixy...and if it strikes the right tone, I'm going to gush all over it. When Scifi is done in an intelligent way with humor and heart, you can't help but win.

The epic action of "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again.

Heather Buckley Muses on Jack Reacher

...and doesn't waste any time getting right to the meat of it.

Jack Reacher may have worked if it was shot in 1975 staring James Caan and Burt Young, but Tom Cruise is just not tough enough to deliver what the material needs. His Reacher may think he’s channeling Eastwood, but he just is not a badass. He’s Tom Cruise. Hollywood star. Wacky Scientologist. He couldn't bus Lee Marvin’s table at a bar. You need a grizzled worldly fucker in that role—quiet and weary, and yet a man of action—someone who challenges Henry Silva to arm wrestling and wins. Much like how the character is actually written by UK crime writer Jim Grant. In Grant's novels, Reacher is a mountain of a man, a typical pulp fiction drifter and anti-hero, a harsh character who knows the score. Bigger than life as these characters usually are; a sort of male superhero fantasy without the powers—but not a Cruise-style movie star.

5 Against Jack Reacher

Sure, his name is not unlike that of a high quality gay porn star, but we all have our crosses to bear.

From The New York Times bestselling author Lee Child comes one of the most compelling heroes to step from novel to screen - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). When a gunman takes five lives in what seems like an open and shut murder case, all evidence points to the suspect in custody.  On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Reacher against an unexpected enemy with a skill for violence, a secret to keep and a target on Reacher’s back.  Written for the screen and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and produced by Tom Cruise, Don Granger, Paula Wagner and Gary Levinsohn, the film stars Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Werner Herzog, David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall.

“JACK REACHER” opens nationwide December 21st, 2012

Behold...The RoboCruise!

The lines between video game lore and movie synopsis continue to blurrr today with the release of this little snippet of info on "All You Need Is Kill"...

"TOM CRUISE stars as Bill Cage, who must relive the same brutal battle against an unrelenting alien race in the epic sci-fi thriller “ALL YOU NEED IS KILL,” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.  Doug Liman is directing the film, which also stars Emily Blunt.  Slated to open on March 14, 2014, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures."

2014!! Feel free to curse at me for running news on a movie not dropping for a whole year. I could not say no to RoboCruise. No one says no to RoboCruise. That should be the whole marketing campaign. I'd also like to take the opportunity for the level of realism put into that battle suit. When I last nerded out on new technologies for military application, enhancing movement and strength, all you see there was in development! Maybe not the arm cannon..but you could feasibly strap on anything. ANYTHING. The porn spoof applications are limitless. I'd also like to applaud Emily Blunt for being in everything.

Now Dawns The Age of Les Grossman

He dances, he makes obscene gestures with his hands, he curses out Robert Pattinson...he's Tom Cruise.. and no one on the planet thought he'd mount an entirely new career as a chubby, badly aging Jewish power broker. Paramount believes in the power of Grossman..and soon..you may too.

Paramount Pictures and MTV Films announced today that they are set to develop a movie around mega-producer Les Grossman. The announcement comes on the heels of Grossman’s groundbreaking and visionary production of the soon-to-be Emmy® award-winning 2010 MTV Movie Awards Sunday night. Tom Cruise, along with Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld of Red Hour Films will produce and have secured the life rights to Grossman.

Grossman, best known as a mega producer, has most recently mentored talents such as Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. In 2008, Grossman was introduced to the masses by Stiller in the comedy “Tropic Thunder” where the famed producer had a cameo playing himself.

Said Ben Stiller: “Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honored to be working with him.”

When asked what the screenplay was about Grossman responded: “To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus, ‘I don’t read the script, the script reads me.’”

Adam Goodman, Paramount Film Group President said, "Everything I learned in this business, I've learned from Les. I started out as his assistant, and from the first day he threw his desk at me when I got his lunch order wrong, I have loved him like a father. I am forever grateful to Ben and Stuart Cornfeld and their ability to secure his highly-coveted life rights,"

Tom Cruise is said to be in talks to portray Grossman in the film. Michael Bacall (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) will write the script. He is repped by WME. WME also reps Ben Stiller and Red Hour Films.

Les Grossman VS Robert Pattinson

I wish that Tom Cruise would attend the MTV Movie Awards as Les Grossman and red carpet interview everyone. Imagine that he's actually a comedy improv master?? All this time?? That would be amazing. At any rate, the true star of Tropic Thunder makes an appearance on an MTV Movie Awards commercial. It's Les Grossman prepping sparkling Twilight start Robert Pattinson for the big show, particularly with some advice on what to to with the hair. Next I'd like to see Les Grossman describing to Britney Spears, in great detail, exactly the areas he would like to see waxed. Let's watch...
