The Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer is EVERYTHING

Marvel Studios Spider-Man Homecoming Trailer Stills
There are areas of the Marvel Universe that have made it to the big screen and yet, never quite captured the full perfection of its comic book counterparts. The X-Men stand as the most glaring abuse with countless films that ignore the core systems that made the comic so popular in favor of explosions, FX gimmicks that never fully pull the trigger and over use of a shirtless Hugh Jackman. Spider-Man has been another pitiable character with countless award winning comics and yet, each film crew seems to understand how to capture part of that magic, but not the whole mindblowing experience. There always seemed to be something missing. Now, we've come to the first trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming. I've had very few expectations going in. Peter Parker's debut in Captain America: Civil War was extremely satisfying but we'd not fully seen his world. Now we get a nice, long look...and it's everything I've always wanted.

Spider-Man Joins the Unemployed

Spider-Man is one of the best known super heroes in the world, but he's also always been one of the most realistic characters in comics. Set aside the wall crawling, super strength and spider-sense...Peter Parker would run out of web fluid in mid-fight, tear apart his costume every other day and have to mend it himself and while nursing his battle wounds, always got up the next day to work to support himself and his dear old Aunt May. Hell, even standing among the Avengers, SM would get nervous as if he were a small child eavesdropping on grown up business. These humanizing traits made Spider-Man more accessible to the average human being. In that same way, Marvel Comics itself has always endeavored to be a more tangible universe with real cities we may live in as the backdrop and events in our world mirrored in the paneled pages. That time has come again...

Marvel Comics has two words to say to Spider-Man’s alter ego Peter Parker -- You’re Fired! Beginning in Amazing Spider-Man #623, on-sale March 3rd, everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood hero has to not only survive key arch nemesis Vulture’s reign of terror…but also losing his job at the Mayor’s office! Peter Parker lays it all on the line to protect J. Jonah Jameson and keep the city from ripping itself apart, but Peter’s sacrifice winds up costing his career as a photographer. But when you can’t pay the bills, how’s a Super Hero supposed to buy web-fluid and fix his costume? Spider-Man’s about to learn that with great power and great responsibility comes the great need to be employed -- which isn’t so easy when you’re blacklisted in New York City!

“Peter Parker’s been through some rough times lately, with all of his deadliest foes returning, and he couldn’t lose his job at a worse time” said Senior Editor Steve Wacker. “He’s going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over his head.”

The intrigue starts in Amazing Spider-Man #623 with the shocking next installment, Amazing Spider-Man #624, spinning into stores just one week later – March 10!
