Comics writer and editor Joseph Illidge heads to New York Comic Con 2026 (October 8-11) at the Javits Center in New York City, celebrating comic-shop culture through his latest writing and Illuminous’ support for the Black comics community and beyond.
On Saturday, October 10, from 5-6 p.m. at Booth #4355, Illidge will join actor Zeno Robinson to sign The Comic Shop Anthology: A Hit TV Show Tie-in, Kat Calamia and Phil Falco’s comic book adaptation of the YouTube series created by Cheyenne Ewulu. Featuring a story written by Illidge, the collection gives fans another way into the world of The Comic Shop.
Published by Lifeline Comics, The Comic Shop Anthology brings the web comedy about a quirky crew doing anything to save their store to the page. Illidge teams with artist Paris Alleyne (Black Panther) on Ratz City, channeling the show’s irreverent humor into a story packed with social commentary and high-energy action. The collection also features Cody Ziglar, Stephanie Williams, DJ Kirkland, and more, celebrating the chaos and camaraderie of comic-shop culture.
Illuminous will also co-sponsor Black Comic Lords’ Lords Lounge at Luma Studios, 307 West 38th Street, October 8-10, beginning at 6 p.m. each evening. The three-night gathering brings blerd culture beyond the NYCC show floor with creator appearances, Whatnot signings, and exclusive drops from Black Comic Lords member SexualChocolateComics, whose shows spotlight talent including Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Sozomaika, Damion Scott, and ChrisCross. The sponsorship reflects Illuminous’ work as an IP and creative services company, helping creators reach new audiences.
Joseph Illidge is an award-winning writer, editor, and creative executive whose work spans DC Comics, Milestone Media, Image Comics, Heavy Metal, Lion Forge, and Simon & Schuster. His recent projects include New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident, The Shadow Cabinet, and the Spawn Universe series Bloodletter. Illidge is also the CEO of Illuminous, where he works with creators and entrepreneurs to develop original characters and worlds, assemble the right artistic teams, and bring new intellectual properties to market through comics and graphic novels.
Illidge will be available for in-person interviews throughout the weekend to discuss The Comic Shop Anthology, his work with Illuminous, and how creators can develop their ideas, expand their reach, and connect with new audiences.
