NYCC 2026: X-Files Comics Trailer Debuts

The truth is out there! Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide announce further details on the debut of new comic books from The X-Files, officially launching this December!

Veteran and fan-favorite franchise writer Joe Harris returns alongside artist R.D. Brown to the tales of Mulder and Scully with a new set of declassified cases from the vault. The new comic series picks up some time after the end of the episode "My Struggle IV," the season and series finale of the eleventh season of the show.

The franchise's definitive modern writer in comics returns, with Joe Harris crafting even more thrilling cases for Mulder and Scully to investigate each and every month everywhere comics are sold. Harris has written more X-Files comic scripts than any other creator and is best known for his Season 10 and Season 11 storylines, published more than a decade ago. Longtime fans can look forward to more of Harris’s critically acclaimed take on the boundary-pushing, mind-bending science fiction that has long defined The X-Files. Beyond channeling the FBI's fabled agents, Harris is known for his copious contributions to Marvel, DC, and on Alice Cooper comics with Dynamite.

Remember when you used to look forward to every episode of The X-Files? But then one day you didn’t? Remember how it was a joy seeing Mulder and Scully together? And then it wasn’t. And then it wasn’t even Mulder and Scully. It was Scully and the T-1000 from Terminator 2.

If you made it that far with the original series you got further than I did. I drifted away during the original run sometimes during season 5. My favorite writers had moved on. The ongoing conspiracy was getting all the more convoluted and it was becoming clear that things were being made up as they went along. I remember something about black oil and bees.

After 13 years of 'Believing" ...and hoping..and praying...and legions of folks writing some really crazy sexually charged fan fiction, THE X-FILES RETURNS!!! Entertainment Weekly broke the word that The X-Files is returning with Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) in tow for a 6 episode mini-series..sometime...in the future. Shooting starts this Summer. 

IDW has been cranking out a wildly popular comic book series for some time now, thrusting the supernatural mystery hunting FBI agents we know and love back into the spotlight. Gillian Anderson has even hit the floor of San Diego Comic-Con to greet fans and assure us she is still..100%..completely awesome (and still hot). With the success of Fox's 24 mini-series and genre subjects dominating the television landscape, there is no better time to bring back a series that probably influenced much of what we love to watch today.
