Pittsburgh's SCAREHOUSE Opens 20th Season This Weekend

Trick or treat! Halloween is back, and ScareHouse is celebrating by opening its doors this Friday to fuel nightmares for its wickedly frightening 20th season. Pittsburgh’s most terrifying tradition, SCAREHOUSE will be open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 1, then Fridays through Sundays through Nov. 6.

Celebrating 20 Years of Fears, SCAREHOUSE will feature some of the most sinister citizens that have ever roamed its dreaded hallways: the bloodcurdling, hatchet-carrying, six-foot-tall Bunny; chilling Creepo the clown, the carnival’s most killer attraction; and dangerously unhinged raver Delirium, whose bright colors belie her dark spirit. They’re just a few of the terrors that loom around every corner inside SCAREHOUSE.

SCAREHOUSE offers general admission tickets – which require advance online reservations – beginning at $22.95, with a special “RIP Ticket” that offers no-reservation front-of-line access available beginning at $39.95. SCAREHOUSE is located inside the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills in Tarentum, just a 20-minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh.

“ScareHouse isn’t holding back this year. We know everyone has carried seemingly endless fears and anxieties with them for the last 18 months – so our goal in creating this year’s ScareHouse has been to give every guest the opportunity to really let go and have some serious fun along with some serious scares,” said SCAREHOUSE co-founder and creative director Scott Simmons. “Our designers, artists and performers are going above and beyond to deliver an unforgettable experience.”

This season, SCAREHOUSE is emphasizing safety at all levels during the continued health crisis. Face masks are recommended for guests at all times during their visits, including while in line and inside SCAREHOUSE. All SCAREHOUSE staff and crew will meet or surpass the most current safety and hygiene recommendations from local health officials. In addition, SCAREHOUSE is just steps away from the Frazer Township Police Department. 

Though it first opened its doom-laden doors in 1999, unexpected challenges during the last two years mean SCAREHOUSE is marking its milestone 20th anniversary this season. During those 20 Years of Fears, its renown has grown beyond far beyond Pittsburgh, with Buzzfeed exclaiming, “You should experience it before you die,” and ABC News calling it, simply, “the scariest haunted house in America.”
