About the Director
Adam MacDonald is a writer/director, born in Montreal, now residing in Toronto. His directorial feature length debut, Backcountry (2015) had its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was bought by IFC Films and The Globe and Mail named Adam one of the “Top Ten Canadians to Watch”. His second feature Pyewacket (2017) also had its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was bought by IFC and Now Magazine proclaimed Adam one of the 10 Canadians to Watch. His third film, Out Come the Wolves was released by IFC and Shudder in 2024 and was selected as one of the top 5 action films to watch by The New York Times.
His first television credit was helming the entire third season of Aaron Martin’s "Slasher" for Netflix. Adam went on to direct season 4 starring David Cronenberg and season 5 "Slasher: Ripper" for AMC’s Shudder. He also directed the first VR Horror movie experience for Meta entitled Be Mine written and produced by Eli Roth and starring Peyton Lyst. Adam is also an accomplished writer, having penned his feature films as well as an episode of Eli Roth's "Urban Legend" and Zak Bagans' "Haunting Museum" for Discovery. The latter included the two-hour season finale, which he also directed.
