DC’s new DC Super Powers variant covers coming in August evoke the classic Super Powers toy line and are packed with tons of Easter eggs and details. To re-create the look and feel of the original Kenner Super Powers packaging, original 1980s Super Powers product artist Alex Saviuk has returned to deliver the spot illustrations for each new variant cover. Saviuk was a character artist for the Kenner packaging from ’84 to ’86 and drew many of the minicomics that were included with each figure. The new DC Super Powers variant covers are designed and sculpted by one of the leading historians of the original Kenner Super Powers toy line and the cofounder of Raving Toy Maniac and Action Figure Insider, Jason Geyer, who is a toy designer himself.

Telekinetic Girl VS NY Coffee Shop
With one week til the opening of the Carrie remake, super pranksters Thinkmodo took to the streets of New York City...and rigged a coffee shop for destruction. MIND EXPLODEY DESTRUCTION!! I don't know about you but if this had happened in Brooklyn when I was growing up, someone would have decked the poor girl. We all knew about mutants...and you gotta knock those suckers out fast. I'll also add, if friends of mine had rigged this, the dude's head would have went kaplooey and those coffee shop patrons would be scarred for life right now. Hit play and prepare to laugh your ass off. Suffice to say, if you are supposed to be working, you'll have to do this all ninja like...or just call everyone over and disrupt business for 5 minutes. Your call.
Carrie opens October 18th!

Scientist Killjoys Teach The Realities of Super Powers
Folks like to interject reality into comic book movies to make the situations and characters more relatable. It worked..for a little while..til those situations and characters got long winded and reality proved to be a major downer. It's how we got a Bane who sounds like the cross between a snarky Bond bad guy and the old prospector in an ancient western. Let's face it...if we wanted reality in our comic books...we wouldn't be reading about buff guys and buxom gals in tights, would we? Now, TED-Ed looks to squash our dreams of waking up one sunny day with super speed, flight, invisibility, strength, immortality, and body mass (sorry..do YOU dream of body mass??!!) with a series of videos exploring the realities one wold face if granted these powers. Are they complete creeps for destroying our childhood dreams? Indeed. Are the videos highly educational? Yes. Very interesting if you are nerd inclined, as I am. Hit the jump and take a look...and try not to sob out loud...
