Mondo Celebrates the Tank Girl Soundtrack on Vinyl

This week on the Distro Drop, Real Gone Music’s TANK GIRL soundtrack returns! Assembled by Courtney Love herself, this absolute ripper features a Who’s Who of ‘90s female rock including Hole, Björk, L7, Veruca Salt and Belly. TANK GIRL has been tough to find since Real Gone first released it in 2018, and our Mondo Exclusive is the only pressing on the market right now.

I'd been a while since I've caught up with the girl who sports a ballistic bra like no other, but that doesn't mean I don't check in every so often. I've still got great love for the most foul mouthed hero of the wastelands..but hell man...comic books ain't cheap!

Fresh off the back of their latest calamitous chapter comes this shiny new Tank Girl tale from series creator, Alan Martin and artist extraordinaire, Brett Parson! Expect a healthy dose of delirium and plenty of ball-crunching action in this high-octane crosscountry skirmish that asks the question: is this world really big enough for two Tank Girls?! Strap yourself in, folks; It’s gonna be one helluva ride!

Rufus Dayglo's Solid Gold Death Mask

The artist who breathed new life into Tank Girl (aka my very favorite female super punk of all time) is back with a project of his own design. Rufus Dayglo posted this today...

"I'll be teaming up with the amazing threeA to release SOLID GOLD DEATH MASK, my brand new project! threeA will be publishing the hard copy books AND producing TOYS... I'm so bloody excited!!!I'm working on toy designs right now, and as you know threeA make the best toys in the world!!! We'll be making more announcements and showcasing art, and sculpts at threeA's reVENTURE HK show on April 27th-4th May in Hong Kong!!! I'll hopefully have a few exclusive goodies to give away too!

You'll note threeA is the crazed bunch of toy creators who pump out amazing, massive robots with the super power to drain your wallet instantly with 100 to 300 dollar price tags. You've got to pay more for quality! threeA were set to make Tank Girl figures with Rufus sketching out all the angles but sadly, licensing got in the way, which reveals a dark future for anyone else even thinking of a Tank Girl action figure attempt. I hate when suits get in the way of greatness. WHO THE HELL ELSE IS GOING TO ATTEMPT A TANK GIRL FIGURE??!!

Rufus gives a little insight into the project..

"The idea had been to give it away online at www.solidgolddeathmask.com in weekly little installments, then collect it as Books (real books) with special things in it like exclusive art, and stories, sketched and signed. 3A will be doing toys, and merch, which of course they are the Kings of!

SGDM is the story of 2 sisters, the daughters of a Death Goddess, who's been murdered.
Taken in by by penguins, and a monkey, they use their special skills as agents of...err.. the penguins. As you do. The sisters don't exactly see eye to eye... on anything... so sibling rivalry and attempted murder is a daily problem. SGDM will involve murder, betrayal, psychotic penguins, tea parties, luke warm tea and many many dodgy haircuts."

Tank Girl On The March

In case you haven't heard...TANK GIRL IS BACK!! ...and she's been back for YEARS now so what's your excuse for not reading other than being a dirty wanker obsessed with overly bulging supers oiling each other up?? Alan C. Martin teams with Rufus Dayglo to bring the sticky, pervy, untra violent world of Tank Girl back to life via Image Comics, Titan Comics and IDW...because just one comic company could not possibly contain the girl with the biggest guns.

If you are looking to get cracking, here's a quick check list...

The Gifting & Visions of Booba from IDW - They are a little trippy, definitely random as all hell and crass as you'd love them to be. Ashley Wood handles the scribbling for this go, with Martin on words.

Skidmarks from Titan - Barney lands in a coma after a disasterous encounter with rail grinding, so the crew enter a Cannon Ball Run-esque race to raise the money to get her the operation she needs. Wackiness ensues, natch. The trade has hit stores, so buy it nowww.

The Royal Escape from IDW - This time is WAR..with a touch of the super natural and the usual overlying, foul mouthed frenzy we have come to love. This one is just finishing up so you should be able to nab the individual books at your own slack-luster pace.

Next up is BAD WIND RISING, another 4 parter from Titan Books, followed by TANK GIRL: CARIOCA, a 6 part series. We don't have much more we can tell you on the new books, but we do have a trailer for Bad Wind!
