Legions Con 2024: Mythic Legions: Reign of the Beasts

Legions Con 2024 Four Horsemen Mythic Legions Reign of the Beasts Leodysseus 002

A new wave of Mythic Legions were on display at Legions Con 2024, showcasing the Four Horsemen's ability to create and render fantastic monsters to add to the epic lore of their fantasy universe. Reign of the Beasts is sure to convert LOADS of new collectors, with can't-miss creatures sure to be the highlight of any action figure shelf. Let's dive into this new wave of claws and teeth!

The first of the Great Beasts that were created by Selyne – the mighty lion warrior – LEODYSSEUS!

This imposing character is an over-sized ogre-scale figure! The parts here are almost all brand new and Leodysseus stands even taller than our previous ogres! In creating the new parts for Leodysseus, we also added some new articulation points, including butterfly shoulders, bicep swivels, and a mid-torso cut, to allow for some very dynamic posing as this might warrior roars upon entering battle!

Leodysseus stands approx. 10” tall and includes the massive Leossyr hammer (resized for this figure!), removable shoulder armor and bracers, extra sets of hands, premium wired soft goods, and 3 different face plates – stoic, snarling, and roaring expressions.

This is a deluxe ogre-scale figure that will be $80 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

The first of the Great Beasts given life by Selyne, Leodysseus the Lyon towered above the brave soldiers he led into battle during the First Great War of Mythoss. A shining example of bravery, Leodysseus faced off against the demonic Arethyr, using his massive hammer to defeat the fiery God of War. The lyon’s motto to be “the shield that protects the realm, and the sword that strikes those who threaten its peace” would form the core belief of the army that would eventually bear his name. That army would follow the example of unwavering dedication to military strength that Leodysseus showed during the First Great War and his courage would be revered for all time within the kingdom of Leandorr.

SERPENSPIRE ROYAL GUARD

Like the previously revealed Bassylia, this figure includes a fully articulated serpentine lower body. It is actually the same pieces that Bassylia uses, but with a different “top” piece that allows it to be compatible with 1.0 torsos.

The Serpenspire Royal Guard is a deluxe figure that includes 2 heads (open and closed mouth), removable shoulder armor, extra hands, a magic staff, plus club and shield weapons.

The Serpenspire Royal Guard will be $45 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

Members of the Coatl, a reptilian race long vanished in Mythoss, the Serpenspire Royal Guard were comprised of the highest-ranking soldiers in Bassylia’s den of followers. Possessing fully serpentine lower bodies like Bassylia herself, only the High Mages were above the Royal Guards within the ranks of the early Convocation. Equally adept at wielding weapons in melee combat as they were with weaving together power spells, no one knows how these soldiers disappeared from the realm – or perhaps that disappearance is not a mystery, but is one of the many secrets locked away in the vaults of Ophidionn.

A new brute-scale figure – the Ifrit berserker, J’HENNAM!

This figure includes a brand new head, new armor pieces, a new flaming sword and flame effects, a magic lamp, extra hands, and the massive fiery base as seen here in these images! To maximize display options, we are also including a pair of brute-scale legs to match J’hennam’s red body.

J’hennam will be $55 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

Fiends normally tethered to the Infernal Plane, Ifrits often act as cruel jailers to those unfortunate souls who find themselves trapped in that hellish realm. An elder Ifrit named J’hennam was summoned to Mythoss by Poxxus during the First Great War. A living inferno who consumed all who stood in his path, J’hennam escaped the spells that banished the rest of Poxxus’ army, only to find himself defeated by a Coatl High Mage who imprisoned him within a copper lamp. Originally kept in the secure vaults of Ophidionn, the lamp mysteriously disappeared a number of years ago. That magical vessel’s whereabouts, along with the horror trapped within, is currently unknown.

The head of the Convocation that bears her name – BASSYLIA.

This deluxe figure features a completely new body build – including a fully articulated serpentine tail! She comes with the Serpenspire Staff (which was also newly sculpted for this release), a magic effect, and extra sets of hands. Bassylia also features feathered wings and a removable mid-tail piece that allows the snake tail to be displayed flat so the figure can be standing, as well as a second piece to create poses where the tail is fully extended as if she was flying.

Bassylia will be $45 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

The third of the Great Beasts to be called forth by Selyne, the winged serpent Bassylia was granted the ability to access the magic that shapes the universe. Leading an assemblage of scholars committed to wielding the burden of such considerable abilities, Bassylia and her followers were instrumental in shifting the balance of power in the First Great War by removing Poxxus’s forces from the battlefield. As enigmatic as the powers that these scholars wield is the mystery behind the disappearance of the Coatl, a race of serpentine beings like Bassylia. No one knows what happened to these beings, or if they do know, they are not revealing that secret.

Another figure that boasts our new Legions 3.0 body – THE GOLDEN PRIDE OF LEANDORR!

This figure is another head-to-toe new build, and it includes double-jointed elbows and knees along with new armored parts, new feet, a new shield weapon, and new heads! The helmeted head can be displayed with either the lion mask or the human face, and a fully unhelmeted head is also included! The Golden Pride of Leandorr figure also includes extra hands, a spear, and a gladius sword with scabbard!

As we mentioned in our post for the other “3.0 figure” in this wave (Mwindajii the Cackler), these newly articulated parts are pieces we have been working on for a few years, and we are excited to get them into the line in a way that adds to these Legions figures, while still maintaining the ability to pop-and-swap parts with other compatible pieces!

This is a standard figure that will be $40 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

The soldiers who fought beside the mighty lion, Leodysseus, in the First Great War of Mythoss would go on to become the foundation upon which the army that bore his name would be built. Now known as “The Golden Pride of Leandorr”, this battalion of warriors guarded Leodysseus’ flanks as he fought against the fiery Arethyr. After the war was won, the surviving members of The Pride would become commanders in the new kingdom that was formed, with their greatest leader, a man named Attarius, taking on the surname Leossyr and becoming the first king of Leandorr.

From the Sect of Arrezius comes the dragon cultist – ARRAYA THE TALON BEARER!

This figure includes a number of new parts, including her head, weapon, waist armor, and adornments. Of course, the most obvious “new” item included here is Arraya’s dragon familiar – a figure that is even larger than Arraya herself with fully posable limbs and head and a bendable body!

Arraya the Talon Bearer is a deluxe figure that will be $50 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

Active during the First Age of Mythoss, the Order of the 5 Pillars was a cult whose beliefs were considered deeply heretical. Daring to question the story of the realm’s creation, these cultists worshipped ancient creatures of immense proportions who they believed had existed in Mythoss for untold ages. Members of these cults, and the familiars that manifested as an extension of their faith, were driven from the kingdoms shortly after the First Great War. A scholar who initially fought beside Bassylia, Arraya the Talon Bearer broke from the Convocation to found the Sect of Arrezius where she chronicled the evidence that formed the basis of the cultists’ beliefs. While those writings were ordered destroyed, evidence suggests that they were actually saved by members of Ophidionn and remain hidden within the vaults of that kingdom’s Great Library.

This is the Gnole hunter – MWINDAJII THE CACKLER!

Mwindjaii is a head-to-toe new figure that debuts some exciting new articulation additions that we have been developing for the past few years. This 3.0 body includes new double-jointed elbows and knees, bicep swivels, butterfly joints in the shoulders, and a mid-torso cut! Mwindajii features over 40 points of articulation! He also comes with 2 heads (open and closed mouth), extra hands, and a pair of brand new sword weapons!

One of the coolest aspects of this new 3.0 body is that the figure still maintains the Legions focus on parts swapping and compatibility! While not every 3.0 part is fully backwards compatible with every older piece, there are going to be a ton of possibilities for these new library pieces and combinations with existing parts as we move forward! This is a standard figure that will be $40 in the direct preorder from StoreHorsemen.com. That preorder begins on 11/8/24 at 5pm EST. Here is the bio for this character:

Not all of the soldiers who fought for Arethyr in the First Great War were created by the jealous god, Helyos. Some of those warriors were turned to the side of evil. The Gnole were some of the Great Mother’s most loyal followers. Expert trackers who would be sent out to find and rescue those in need, a group of these animalians were captured by the God of War’s forces. Twisted and tortured, this gang of Gnole trackers eventually forgot the teachings of Selyne and the natural instincts of their race to become Arethyr’s most vicious hunters, tracking down his enemies and dispatching them with ruthless efficiency. Led by the cruel Mwindajii, this group became known as the “Cacklers”. While the peaceful Gnole are one of the races that has long since disappeared from Mythoss, rumors persist of a pack of Cacklers who still roam the wastelands, hunting any who are unlucky enough to cross their path.

This new figure is very much an extension of the “Reign of the Beasts” wave (and which is available for preorder at StoreHorsemen.com now). Trevor even snuck some of these into the photos for Bassyila in that wave as a bit of a tease, so this snake warrior is basically an early in-hand look at the Reign of the Beasts wave!

The Ninian Infantry comes with a pair of heads (open and closed mouths) that are actually different from the ones on the new Serpenspire Royal Guard. Unlike that Guard and Bassylia from the new wave, both of which have fully serpentine lower bodies, the Ninian Infantry have normal legs and they also include a new bendy tail!

This figure is available in limited quantities at LegionsCon and we will offer him for sale online sometime in early 2025 (similar to what we did with last year’s surprise figure – the Valiant Knight), for those who were not at the show to pick him up. When we do offer him for sale, he will be an in stock item only available directly from Four Horsemen Studios.

You can  read the bio for this character here:

In the First Age of Mythoss, the forces of Bassylia included numerous members of the Coatl, a diverse race of reptilians whose features mirrored that of Bassylia herself. While this race has long since vanished from the Realm, records kept in the Library of Agbendor detail a society that was structured and disciplined. Born bipedal, young Coatlyans often served as workers or soldiers, including the extensive ranks that were known as the Ninian Infantry. As Coatlyans grew older or gained more knowledge, they shed their legs in favor of serpentine lower bodies and rose to become Royal Guards, High Mages, or other honored positions serving the Winged Serpent.
