Iggy and the Stooges "From KO to Chaos"

Iggy and the Stooges "From KO to Chaos"
When the riotous, confrontational 'last ever' Iggy & the Stooges gig Metallic KO was issued in 1976 on the French indie Skydog label, it heralded the punk movement and cemented Iggy's position in it. Iggy’s career then took off, and a lengthy liaison between Skydog and Iggy Pop continued, with releases through and beyond the Stooges reunion 29 years later.

Here are all of the Skydog label's Iggy releases, remastered, in a clam-shell box set containing seven CDs and a DVD – a fitting tribute to the label’s punk pioneer boss Marc Zermati, who passed away in June. Marc started Skydog in 1973, arguably Europe’s first independent rock label, and in the same year that Metallic KO was released he organized the "First Punk Festival" in Mont de Marsan. He worked closely with The Clash, Johnny Thunders, Wilko Johnson, and Chrissie Hynde and many others.

The Damned Announce Double A Side Single "Look Left"/ "Devil in Disguise"

Following a hugely successful UK tour which saw British punk legends The Damned rev up 2018 by playing to over 23,000 rabid fans, including two back-to-back sold-out London shows, the band return this month with a double A side single available to stream/download now at Spotify.

Culled from their forthcoming ‘Evil Spirits’ album, released April 13th via Search And Destroy/Spinefarm Records, the single features the tracks Look Left and Devil In Disguise two songs that perfectly represent the albums many shifting moods and styles.

‘Look Left’ is The Damned at their most epic and grandiose; a sweeping sugar-coated mind-grenade, addressing post-millennial society’s “media-induced coma” over lush vocal melodies and show tune theatrics. Written by drummer Pinch as a love song to the human race, the lush balladry holds a heavy lyrical theme within. “While everybody's looking left, what the hell is happening right? Tough subject matter is easier to digest when coated in honey rather than vinegar and the message in this song is so important, I couldn’t risk it being a throw away aggro punk tune that was immediately overlooked,” explains Pinch. “The future is here, and until you awaken your mind, I’ll wait for you.”
