“I wanted to make a film about aliens, which has been my favorite subject ever since I was a kid. I thought it would be interesting to combine the world of Korean historical fantasy with a science fiction story set in the present,” said Director CHOI. It was five years ago that he conceived of this heterogenous plot that brings together the Goryeo Dynasty and present times. In particular, he conceived of ALIENOID as a two-part sequential story in which the events of Part One and Part Two are organically connected. The Goryeo Dynasty, in which sorcerers compete to attain the Divine Sword, and the modern era, in which alien prisoners are being imprisoned in human bodies… the spectacle of people in different time periods each trying to achieve their goals combines with Director CHOI Dong-hoon’s distinctive rhythmic direction, making for lighthearted comedy and entertainment. In addition, the spectacular action that transcends eras and genres will provide a new cinematic experience that you have never seen before, from extraordinary magical action to sci-fi combat with spaceships, aliens and robots flying over downtown Seoul. ALIENOID, where secrets between characters who seem to have no connection at all are revealed and gathered into a single vanishing point, will open a new horizon for Korean cinema.
