The series stars Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis, a man determined to revive his struggling community even as unsettling legends begin to resurface. David Fleming’s incredibly evocative score for Widow’s Bay is a living, breathing entity that permeates every building and wide-open space in the town. It’s a symphony of atmospheric synth lines and pads, dreamy strings, occasional terrifying stingers, breathy theremin-style wailing vocals, and melodies that blend together seamlessly. It somehow manages to feel deeply rooted in the town’s ancient history yet feeling completely modern. In a word, it’s timeless. It manages a fine line between sheer horror, mischief, and wonder, always keeping a keen ear for melody and playfulness. This balance of tone is second to none, the perfect score to a perfect show.
