More New Hasbro Marvel Super Hero Mashers!
Shu'Up! You know you love them! Not in a very, very long time has there been a "kid's" toy line so well received by collectors, and I suppose it doesn't hurt that there are wave after wave of Marvel Legends flooding stores so no one can argue one line is getting more Hasbro love than the other. This is just a quick addendum to our last update where we showed off the official pics for some new Mashers shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2015...like Rocket Raccoon, Carnage and Rhino! Now we get a look at Iron Patriot, Iron Skull, Ronan (ok that stings a little...I need a Marvel Select Ronan ..please and thank you), Nova, Daredevil and Winter Soldier...

Michael C. Hall as Daredevil?
Dexter as Daredevil. I like it! This one is, as yet, unconfirmed by official sources, but the rumor mill is churning and folks are buzzing about Michael C. Hall being considered for the role of Matt Murdock, the Man Without Fear for the upcoming Netflix series. We cobbled together a picture to see if Hall has what it takes to play the blind lawyer from Hell's Kitchen by day, masked crime fighter by night. What do you think?

The NEXT Man Without Fear

Falcon - Seems like the most logical choice! Lori hit the nail squarely on the head when she said this character is ready for greatness after a much needed dusting and jump start with an excellent writer wrapping Falcon up in some old school detective stories with a healthy dose of lust, murder and super crime on the street level. Most people forget Falcon ran alongside Captain America at one time!
Gambit - I know the ladies love the Cajun, but I don't recall EVER reading a decent story with him at the front of it. Maybe its his time? Like "Alias" with Jessica interacting with her Avengers friends from time to time, Gambit's story lines could include drop ins from the X-iverse (good and bad) as well as a new life for the character on the New York streets interacting with the heavy weights who live there. I'd be down for that read.
Black Panther - Did he get kicked off the throne or something? I always thought Panther had a bit of an attitude, like Namor light. I'm not sure bringing this character to the NY streets is even logical, considering his previous role in the scheme of things. Then again, I barely know a thing about the character and haven't seen him in any of the last big events (World War Hulk, Civil War, Skrull Invasion) so I can't say I care much about him at all at this point.

Kraven - This is probably the most interesting choice. If this is the old school Kraven just back from the dead, my immediate complaint would be he is too old. If we are going to have "Man Without Fear" be a sort of reboot with a new character taking on Daredevil's old enemies and patrolling his stomping grounds, I'd like someone younger in the role. That said, Kraven would make an EXCELLENT re-occurring character ...part mentor in the beauty of the hunt and part guardian angel, attoning for his past sins by watching over the new hero of the worst parts of New York City since Spider-Man would most likely tell him to fuck off. This would also keep him in Spidey's peripheral and create a little much needed tension and cross overs in the two books.
I've been collecting the art Marvel has been sending over and noticed parts of it connect a bit, so I'm including the big picture (or what there is of it) . Enjoy!

SDCC 2010: Marvel Comics ACTUAL COMICS REPORT!!

At San Diego Comic Con this year there seemed to be something missing in most of the updates I have seen and that was…COMICS! The show’s focus has been more Hollywood and less about the origin of these great characters. Don’t get me wrong; I’m really happy to see a hobby of mine that I have had since I was 12 become “trendy” but what about the damn books!? Reading is fundamental….isn’t it?? Apparently the creators themselves were so swept up in the Hollywood hubbaloo that they neglected to tell us anything useful in the panels that revolved around the books themselves. During the Marvel writer’s panel they showed a few pictures of upcoming storylines which were either obvious in content or teasers to things that they were going to announce “next week”. NEXT WEEK?!? This is San Diego fucking comic con...this is your largest audience.
One of the first photos was of Hulk wrestling with Red Hulk. Ooohhh breaking news. Really?!? After the discovery that Red Hulk aka Rulk (Spoiler) is actually “Thunderbolt” Ross they are going to make them fight?? Really? Wow that was a shocker. Sarcasm doesn’t translate well on this forum. Rulk will be joining the ranks of the Avengers in issue #7.
They also announced that the Big Three are going to have a book together. This was actual news. They hinted that Iron Man, Steve Rogers (former Captain America) and Thor are going to have a journey that will not be set in the present time line. Written by Loeb and McGuinness.
After the current arch Nova is on in space they will be taking a hiatus from the Guardians of the Galaxy. There are future plans for the characters but none at the present other than Rocket Raccoon who will be getting his own miniseries. Cosmic Avengers is also on it’s way.
Also on the way is a new X-book called “Generation Hope” that focuses on Hope’s life with the x-men without her mentor/foster father Cable. She will be fighting along side the Five Lights who are five newly indentified Mutants who are the first lights on Cerebra since M-Day. It will also forge a closer bond between Rogue and Hope. There is some hidden connection between these two characters but no info on what that might be as of yet. Sisters perhaps?
Marvel also announced that the “Green Ladies” are coming back into the fold. They didn’t specify who they are but with my fingers crossed it will be She-Hulk who has been quiet this year since her solo title was cancelled. I really hope they don’t pit her against her red counterpart. It would be a mirrored storyline to the all too obvious direction the Hulk solo series is already heading.

The biggest news revolves around the new “Man Without Fear”. After the current run of the “Shadowland” series there will definitely be a new man without fear announced. The peeps at Marvel showed some possible choices with adjoining teaser art of characters: Nova, Gambit, Kraven, Black Panther and Falcon. My money is on Falcon. His character needed to be dusted off a bit and the other characters are staples in their own solo series or active in collaboration titles. Falcon is also the only person who is in desperate need of a reboot. I mean he has telepathic connection with birds? Yeah he isn’t really useful. He needs to be butched up in order to fit in with the Marvel Knight titles.

So there you have the Marvel update from SDCC. Most of the information was leaked a few days prior on the trusty interweb. The rest was really pointless. Let’s hope the big announcements the week AFTER comic con make more of an impact on us rabid fans and give us something to actually geek out over.

Daredevil Headed For Rebootitopia

Ahhhh yes...the shores of Rebootitopia. Where all your sins are washed clean and you can get a do-over any time you like. SNAZZY! Deadline Hollywood is reporting FOX is stirring up the waters of our blind crusader to hold onto their movie options. Current word is David Scarpa (The Day The Earth Stood Still) will be the screenwriter. Yeaaa. That won't be a train wreck. I'm holding out zero hope. FOX has to seriously change the way they think about the Marvel Movies to get me excited about another release.
