Wicket the Ewok Is the Newest Star Wars Statue from Gentle Giant LTD
They may say that it was Lando Calrissian who fired the winning shot, but we all know that the real hero of the Battle of Endor was Wicket W. Warrick. Without the assistance of this intrepid Ewok (and a hundred of his closest friends), the assault on the Death Star’s force field generator would have surely failed. Now, you can celebrate the wild warrior with this exclusive Milestones statue from Gentle Giant LTD!
You remember that time...the timid, furry little creature inching closer with a tiny spear that seemingly couldn't hurt a fly. The space princess, just knocked from her stolen speeder bike..being perused by the Empire and on high guard, but certainly not wary of this little teddy bear native of the forest moon of Endor. Were this a Syfy Saturday night film, the encounter would have ended abruptly when Leia offers up some food and the tiny beast lunged for her face...teeth bared and claws extended. Sadly, this is Star Wars...and while I do love Star Wars something fierce, I love the thought of the reality of the humanoid eating Ewoks even more. FEAR THE LUKA LUKA SONG!! Recently, during Celebration Europe, Warwick Davis (AKA Wicket W. Warrick) and Carrie Fisher (AKA Princess Leia Organa) took the stage and reenacted their first encounter from Return of the Jedi with hilarious results. I say Davis ditches Karl Pilkington and travels across America with Carrie Fisher. What say you? Hit the jump for the video!
If you were LEGO, would YOU let something like Star Wars slip away? Me neither. We've not heard anything on how the Disney acquisition of Lucas will effect individual licensors, but we are betting the answer is "Not at all for the forseeable future." Now.. when the current contracts run out...and if Disney acquires Hasbro...well..that is another story. ...And one we'll tell later..when it happens. For now, we are going to take a look at LEGO's Star Wars 2013 lineup!
NOTE: These pieces may not represent the FULL lineup for 2013.
I am a recovering army builder. I used to buy multiples of any nondescript army character so that someone like Red Skull would have the might of Hydra behind him and Yoda could be flanked by Clones in a skittles array of color highlights. There's Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, Sandtroopers, Scout Troopers, Battle Droids, Gungan Warriors, Endor Rebels, Hoth Rebels, Gondorian Swordsmen, Easterlings, Uruk-Hai, Battle Trolls, Minotaurs, Dragons, Shield Agents and on and on into plastic infinity. The folks on Collection Intervention ain't got nuthin' on a dedicated army builder!
As we speak, Star Wars Celebration is going on in Florida...and I'm not there. ~sigh~ Honestly, there is only so much geek world tour one man can handle, so while I'm back in fist pumping New Jersey, I'm glad there are LEGIONS of fans attending celebration and reporting on every aspect of it.
So far, the biggest news has been the release of the entire Star Wars collection on Blu-ray in 2011 with Return of the Jedi to include a deleted scene where Luke Skywalker completes his bad-ass Jedi Master light saber...and thanks to the wonders of living in the future, we can show you that scene NOW!! Thanks to TheForce.net for the hookup...
It's said the Blu-ray release will be the special editions...the preferred versions of Mr. Lucas. No word yet if the original versions of the trilogy will also be included, but we'll keep you posted.
The Fett is a man of many moods. He's contemplative when going in for a capture or kill and he's determined when killing and/or capturing. Diamond Select took all that raw emotion and poured it into their new Boba Fett rotocast bust bank! So far we are getting two color schemes...one from Empire Strikes Back to coincide with the celebration going on now (released as a limited edition exclusive), and one from Jedi with more striking colors. These are not the final paints on either piece, so feel free to pour over them with your Uber Star Wars Geek eyes and let them know what might need to be tweaked in the comments!
The bust bank stands 8 inches tall and should be hitting this December for under 20 bucks!!
Among the countless booths at San Diego Comic Con you'll find toys, artists, upcoming movies, statues, and comics of course, but there is one thing that sets a comic convention apart from all other events normal people attend all year round. COSPLAYERS!! Tall and tiny...bean pole thin and those who are...not so much..all donning costumes of their favorite comic, movie and cartoon characters. Truly, these are special, special people, but among them, there is a tribe of ladies who push the envelope, paying homage to the first lady of Scifi Fantasy as she wore the most iconic bikini ever to slink across a film screen. Her name is Leia Organa and in that costume, she is Slave Leia!
A small contingent of this ultra sexy tribe recently descended on the studios of Gentle Giant to oil up ole' Jabba and prepare him for swarms of hot ladies who will drape themselves before him for photo ops and new Facebook pics. Adrianne Curry was there, sporting her own metal bikini, and shot some video of the gathering. Enjoy!
Princess Leia Organa get's the animated treatment! With a sinister Salacious Crumb perched at her side, Leia is posed in her famous "Metal Bikini." Featuring a real metal chain, large hoop earrings and sitting on a Jabba's Palace themed base. This version of Leia has easily been the most requested character in the Gentle Giant "Animated Maquette" series. Cast in high quality poly-stone no detail was over looked. This strictly limited edition collectible is sure to sell out. Our Princess also comes hand numbered, accompanied by a matching certificate of authenticity.
