Geeks Go Shopping! The Geekiest Hallmark Selections

Hallmark 2020 Holiday Ornaments Back to the Future
Back into your geekiest of holiday shopping suggestions, this time with Hallmark! One of the most fun things to do every year is to hit a Hallmark store when the yearly ornament display is up and press all the buttons. Button pressing is a very acceptable date option, just FYI. The best ornament I ever clicked was Beaker from The Muppets who sang in his Beaker voice and moved his tiny bottom lip. Amazing. This year's offerings covered a wide spectrum of our movies, TV, cartoons and comic books. Among the hefty catalog of products, Hallmark picked three they thought you'd love...

Jaws Blu-ray Reviewed

I’m a bit of an odd duck. When I really love an older movie, I prefer to not own it, as this provides me the opportunity to run into it accidentally whilst flipping through channels some random day. It’s the most excellent of surprises. Occasionally, there is that rare instance when film makers put forth a Herculean effort to create the perfect Blu-ray transfer which then gets my attention…but a dilemma still exists. I am so used to watching the “safe for TV” version of a film, it becomes burned into my brain and the theatrical version is long forgotten. Such is the case with Jaws, a film with numerous scenes extended in the TV version; one of which has become my favorite.

Happy Quint Day!

Today is the birthday of Robert Shaw AKA Quint from Jaws, so for the remainder of the day, any time someone asks you something, be sure to answer them in a gruff tone and don't exactly answer the question as much as threaten them and throw out a sexual innuendo in the same breathe. It will be so much fun.

With a distinguished acting career that spanned nearly 30 years, the English actor and novelist Robert Shaw is perhaps best known for his role as the shark hunter "Quint" in JAWS. In celebration of his birthday (August 9th) and the start of JAWSFEST (http://www.jawstribute.com/) today on Martha's Vineyard, here is a new bonus clip about the iconic actor from the new documentary "THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING: THE IMPACT AND LEGACY OF JAWS," a bonus feature on the upcoming JAWS Blu-ray.

Universal Unleashes New Licensees for Back to the Future, Scarface & More

When a major company like Universal doles out licenses to manufacturers, they often do it in one big clump. One such clump has just surfaced, so we thought we'd bring you the highlights VIA licensemag.com ...

BACK TO THE FUTURE: Mattel will be making action figures, vehicles and accessories across the planet while Tell Tale Games will shell out interactive games.

PSYCHO: Robies costumes will have Halloween costumes and accessories in the US and Canada. Fingers crossed for a knife that does the stabby shower sound!!

SCARFACE: NECA has the license for Action Figures and accessories across the globe and Denim Street will have new apparel in the UK

SMOKEY & THE BANDIT: Franklin Mint will have diecast vehicles across the US

JAWS: A company called M.A.C will have new apparel in Australia and New Zealand

SHAUN OF THE DEAD: Pyramid Poster will have postcards and posters in the UK and Eire while Aquarius Entertainment dishes out stationary in the same regions

Since Mattel knows full well that Back to the Future is a specialty item, expect them to follow a similar model to their Ghostbusters line (ie; their MattyCollector club selling figures and Mego-esque dolls), with a chance of vehicles at mass retail since Diamond cleared the way for that to happen.
