NYCC 2023: Marvel's Star Wars News from Comic Con

Next year, Marvel Comics embarks on a host of new adventures in the galaxy far, far away! Last weekend at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con, an all-star lineup of Star Wars talent joined Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain to give fans a first look at what next year holds for Marvel Comics’ line of Star Wars comic books. The new announcements included an all-new limited series starring Mace Windu hitting stands just in time for the 25th anniversary celebration of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, a comic adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s New York Times #1 best-selling Thrawn: Alliances novel, and more!

Launching in January, STAR WARS: THRAWN - ALLIANCES will see Zahn team up with writer Jody Houser and artists Andrea Di Vito and Pat Olliffe to bring his groundbreaking chapter of Thrawn’s saga to Marvel Comics! Witness the tactical prowess of the galaxy's most dangerous mind in action as Thrawn begins his legendary rise to power and forges a lasting and deadly partnership with Darth Vader. 

NYCC 2023: Ghost Machine, a Creator Co-Owned, Cooperative Media Company, Launches at Comic Con

Ghost Machine, a first-of-its-kind creator-owned and operated media company officially launched today at New York Comic-Con. Creators co-own all the characters and universes developed for Ghost Machine, sharing in all publishing, media, merchandise, and beyond. The pioneering creator collective is a global best-of-class roster of artists and writers whose award-winning and iconic works include a who’s who of comic book legends such as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, The Flash, The Ultimates, Black Lightning and Green Arrow: Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Peter J. Tomasi, and Maytal Zchut. The company plans to announce additional talent in the months ahead, including one major superstar creator. All creators will be exclusive to Ghost Machine for their comics work after completing their already committed to projects.

NYCC 2023: Dynamite & Warner Bros. Team Up For Comics & Graphic Novels

Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have partnered to release a range of comic books and graphic novels inspired by some of WBD’s favorite franchises and characters. Projected to start publishing early in 2024 with the first title ThunderCats by Declan Shalvey launching in February. Fans can look forward to a diverse range of stories featuring top tier writers, and gorgeous art! Some of those beloved characters have never had their own comic or graphic novel before.

The initial slate of titles planned to be released across multiple formats include titles that fans of many generations will recognize and be excited to spend time with in comics. Comics fans new and old can get excited for stories featuring ThunderCats, The Flintstones, The Powerpuff Girls, Space Ghost, Jonny Quest, The Wizard of Oz, We Bare Bears, with more to come! The stories will be released in a range of formats and avenues, across the applicable franchises.

NYCC 2023: Andy Diggle & Aaron Campbell's WEAVER Gets Omnibus Edition

NYCC is officially just one week away. And while we love New York in the fall, we didn’t quite end up making it to Hudson Yards this year. (Self-care!) But in the spirit of the season, we’re dropping some exclusives online anyways.

Our SUPERMAN THE MOVIE Original Soundtrack returns as an NYCC exclusive box set, featuring a new vinyl variant bundled with DC’s SUPERMAN ‘78, a brilliant continuation of the story by Robert Venditti, Wilfredo Torres and Jordie Bellaire. Limited to 500 copies, it comes in a newly designed clamshell with artwork by the legendary Joe Quinones and Paolo Rivera. (This new box set will also get a larger release a little later.)

NYCC 2023: Bond and Ennis Align at Dynamite for 007's 70th Anniversary

Dynamite announces the ultimate team-up with MI6’s super spy and one of the greatest comics writers of 007's native United Kingdom, Garth Ennis. The new series starts this coming January, with the intention to shake and stir the character in a thrilling tale for fans.

The year 2023 has marked the incredible 70th anniversary of Ian Fleming's historic character. 2024 will kick off Dynamite's 10th year publishing comics starring James Bond. With over 20 graphic novels worth of stories on the shelves, Dynamite targeted the perfect creative partner to celebrate these milestones in classy, brutal and typical Bond style. No name fit more than one of the most celebrated and influential writers from the British Isles and a longtime Dynamite partner — Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher).

"When I took a look at the Bond of the Fleming novels, as opposed to the larger-than-life figure from the movies, I saw a great deal more potential — a much darker character in a more interesting world," said writer Garth Ennis.

NYCC 2023: Diamond Select Toys and Gentle Giant Head to Comic-Con

NYCC 2023: MINECRAFT x The Noble Collection Product Launch

The Noble Collection, a leading manufacturer, distributor, and retailer of premium collectibles and Toyllectibles™, announced the launch of its first game-inspired product assortment for Minecraft. NYCC 2023: Winx Club Vol. 1: Welcome to Magix

Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group are pleased to announce that the first in their brand new series of Winx graphic novels for young adult and middle grade readers will be Winx Club Vol. 1: Welcome to the Magix, publishing January 16, 2024. 

Join the Winx Club, a group of fairies who fight evil using their unique magical powers! NYCC 2023: Catbat Custom Show at Tenacious Toys

The Catbat is out of the bag! Tenacious Toys and Heartbat Studios have announced their Catbat Custom Show at the Tenacious Collective booth #1771 at New York Comic Con 2023.

This show features 25 customs based on the Heartbat Studios 4" vinyl Catbat figure - a cat with bat wings! In this show are one-of-a-kind pieces by 20 different artists - artist names and IG handles are below:

NYCC 2023: IDW Signing Schedule, Exclusives, Live Events, and More

IDW Publishing will be celebrating comics all weekend long in New York Comic Con’s awe-inspiring Artist Alley from October 12 through October 15 with creator signings, live sketching, portfolio reviews, exclusive variant covers, giveaways, and more.

When fans enter Artist Alley, IDW Publishing will be front and center. Located at booth #HB905, aspiring comic book creators interested in portfolio reviews will need to drop off their portfolios for consideration on Friday, October 13 between 10am and 4pm for consideration. Selected submissions will be notified via text for an editorial appointment time on Saturday 10/15.

Love watching artists breathe life into a blank page? Live drawings will occur throughout the show featuring TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, Hayden Sherman (DARK SPACES: DUNGEON), Ben Bishop and the Escorza Brothers (TMNT: THE LAST RONIN II - RE-EVOLUTION), Alan Robert (THE BEAUTY OF HORROR), and a special surprise guest. All work will be contributed to the charity Comic Books for Kids.

NYCC 2023: Storm King Comics Panels

The times we live in are terrifying enough, so creators of horror stories across different media have a challenge to out-scare the headlines. Storm King Comics founder and horror legend Sandy King Carpenter will lead a panel discussion about the topic as part of New York Comic-Con, the comics publisher announced today.

In addition, King Carpenter will hold a special hourlong exploration of the origins, impact and future of Storm King Comics as the publishing house celebrates its first 10 years, sharing insight into her work with longtime partner and iconic horror director John Carpenter.

NYCC 2023: Winx Club Flying In

NYCC 2023: Z2 Rocks with GWAR, Halestorm & More

Z2, the multiple Eisner-winning and Ringo-winning independent publisher of graphic novels, is set to raise their fist in celebration of their music creators this October at New York Comic Con with plans to host multiple signings at their booth, debut new titles, and participate in panels.

Z2 Comics will invade New York Comic Con in October with an array of talent appearing in support of current and upcoming graphic novels. While days and times are yet to be finalized, among those confirmed include Halestorm, GWAR, Alan Robert of Life Of Agony and Dee Snider of the legendary Twisted Sister.
