SDCC 2015: Colonel Sanders Goes to Comic-Con
Con-goers and Gaslamp Quarter visitors will experience a “little bit of Colonel-ing” in San Diego this week via three unique activations from Kentucky Fried Chicken. After all, Colonel Sanders, with his iconic superhero-esque all-white suit, black ribbon tie, and signature bling would have been the quintessential cosplayer.
The Comics
The colorful life of KFC’s founder was first immortalized this past May with a new, robust brand campaign featuring the interactive archive site Hall of Colonels, www.colonelsanders.com. The Hall chronicles the legendary chicken salesman’s life from sixth grade dropout and gun fighting gas station owner to fried chicken magnate. Now, KFC is bringing the site to life in the graphic novel “KFC Presents: The Colonel’s Adventure Comics,” a limited edition comic being distributed around the Gaslamp Quarter by costumed Colonels and Colonettes on Friday, July 10. Each limited edition Colonel’s Adventure comic will be poly-bagged with the Colonel’s iconic black ribbon tie and select packages will also include highly coveted collector’s edition comics.

SDCC 2015: October Toys Attack Comic-Con with Skeleton Warriors & More
Some companies bring hordes of new, exclusive toys to sell at San Diego Comic-Con...and that's awesome. Some bring a straight up artistic approach to the show and create hand painted plastics you can't find anywhere else and will never see again...and that's cool too. October Toys always makes sure their booth space reflects their kick ass attitude and presents a sampling of everything they've been working on all year, with plenty of those projects available to take home, even if you missed out on a killer Kickstarter like SKELETON WARRIORS!!! Now's your chance to snap up one of the best new toys of the year and shake hands with the fine folks who make dreams come true. Bony, awesome, retro cartoon dreams. My dreams.

SDCC 2015 Preview: MONDO's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The 1st Hellboy & Comic-Con Plans
Ohhh Mondo. You are the ridiculously adorable kitten I can't help petting every time I walk past. Your movie prints are so damn cool, I'm positive there are power ballads out there singing their praises. Now you are getting into toys...and I want you to know...I love you. It's a real love. A manly love. Much like the love I have for pizza and the movie The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. You showed me an art toy rendering of Michelangelo of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and my eyes grew wide with wanting. Then you showed me a massive Iron Giant action figure...and I wept openly...on New Jersey transit. It wasn't pretty sobbing either. It was the kind Peter Griffin rolls away silently from. Now, as San Diego Comic-Con 2015 approaches, we grab some time with Mondo's Creative Director for Toys/Collectibles Brock Otterbacher to see what they'll be unveiling at the biggest geek gathering on Earth...
