Toy Fair 2013 : A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Preview

The curse of the Yeti has stuck again on this lot...which is to say the toys in this room moved too damn fast for us to get our shots in! Could have been the radiation too. We can come up with a lot of excuses. Suffice to say, what we pulled out of this folder is a little grainy..a little out of focus..and shot at a distance...but as always, we'll take what we can get. After all..beggars and all that.

Nothing earth shattering among the items they had on hand at UK Toy Fair in representation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle kingdom. Playmate's "Ooze" theme for this year has already started to hit stores in the states and you'll find several reviews around the interwebs. Their "Flingerz" (Turtles that shoot discs out of their bellies...adorable) assortment has hit stores as well, right alongside the baby turtles swimming in vats of Ooze. New to me was the Mutagen Ooze Drop Copter...which is just what it sounds like..and the Ooze Cruiser, two more new vehicles that look like trikes called the Road Raider (with an exclusive Leo figure) and the Stealth Bike (with an exclusive Raph decked out in his helmet and gloves) which sort of makes him look like a Road Warrior or a cop (can we get a Village People TMNT set going??!!), and a Pop Up Pizza Playset called....(oh man...I love the designers of this)..wait for it...ANCHOVY ALLEY!!!  The set features trap doors, shooting pizzas and sliding doors.

Rounding the displays out was a graphitti'd on remote control Shellraiser that shoots manhole covers!!

The plastic version of those paper mock-ups we saw back at Toy fair 2012 of Snakeweed, Baxter Stockman and Leatherhead were on hand as well. Sorry..this was the only shot we were allowed. We did find out that Snakeweed is so big they had to dismantle him to fit him into a package, so you'll have to rebuild him when you buy him. They are slated for Wave 4. We also heard they'll be releasing Cockroach and ...RAT KING!! ~does happy dance~

On a wall with various, mostly released products, we saw the new Turtle-Comm (with which you can talk to each Turtle and let them take you on an epic adventure..their words not mine!), Turtles Plasticine and Turtles Tattoos. Press notes discussed a new line of highly articulated 11 inch Turtles which come with their signature weapon and a secret shell compartment which houses a second armament. I've never played with the ones that are out now, so I've no idea how closely these resemble those. We also already knew that Beebop and Rocksteady will be joining the "Classics" line...and perhaps we'll get a look at a Classics Shredder in two weeks? More news soon!!

We've still got a small mountain of UK Toy Fair goodness to sort through as the companies begin to send us all their teasers and pre-show reveals, so keep checking back often and follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/idlehandsblog or https://twitter.com/nomadixxx (if you want your news faster and don't mind mildly psycho chatter.)

You can also dive into our picture galleries as they go live RIGHT HERE!
