Toy Fair 2025: Polyphony Unleashes Garbage Pail Kids, My Pet Monster & More

For those of you craving 80s nostalgia, Polyphony debuted its initial wave of blind box Garbage Pail Kids vinyl collectibles at the New York Toy Fair. For the first series, collectors will have a chance of opening one of seven delightfully disgusting mystery figures including GPK mascot Adam Bomb, bubblegum popping Joe Blow, the self-inflicting siamese twins Double Heather, fire starter Fryin’ Ryan, along with Sheepish Seth, Smelly Sally, and Pete Seat. Expect to see these figures on shelves later this year. No word on whether each figure will come with its own trading card - a mystery as juicy as a pack of 1985 gum!

Toy Fair 2023: Premium DNA Resurrecting Retro Toy lines

A sure way to get a toy collector's attention as a new company on the block is to gobble up a handful of licenses from the awesome 80's and 90's and breathe new life into them. What was once a jumble of badly decomposing, discolored plastic with popping rubber o rings and exploding crotches becomes a newly sculpted thing of beauty, utilizing the original artwork to spark heart bubbles across the toy message boards. Premium DNA started their journey of retro resurrection with some killer vinyl Madballs figures and has followed up with a Toy Fair 2023 showing that has people signing over their paychecks.

Holiday of Play 2021: Loyal Subjects Tease Beetlejuice, Starship Troopers & More

Today, our buddies at Toy Insider gave us access to most of our favorite toy companies for their annual Holiday of Play event. We did have the opportunity to visit in person, but alas, my car was not cooperating, so VIRTUAL it is, once again. While browsing through the powerful pile of industry greats, we found The Loyal Subjects and were greeted by their head honcho Jonathan Cathey who was excited to share some toy news with us media starved press folks.

In a world where "poo" is trending in the toy industry, it was only a matter of time til someone explored the "other" elements that escape from the mysterious realm known as "the butt". Toys that make fart noises are not a new occurrence on the retail shelves, so I'd imagine the thought from creators is "when kids stop laughing at the sound, we'll stop making them!" Today, we visit with Eolo, a company that's completely new to me, and check out their line of gross-out, Garbage Pail Kids-esque toys that are apparently so good at what they do, they are called Fartists!
